Sprints are King at Knoxville they won’t spend the time reworking the track for the limited amount of other events that happen to use the track a few times a year
So do rally racers, yet they can get a one lane single track to run. Same surface as everybody else, but who is passing who in a head to head? Yea, nobody.
Never been there but we go to Eldora alot and guys in the pits will tell us Knoxville is boring but obviously prestigious but they always tell me not as good. I hope I get to go there one day to decide for myself.
I'll inform you. Their last points race is usually the last week of August. The Late Model Nationals are the last race of the year there. Sprint Cars don't return until Spring. Are they gonna reshape the track to accommodate him? Hell No
Late model, guys .....😂 they like their women the same way they like their cars . If you know, ya know. Knoxville track records 410 sprint. Brian Brown 14.351 Late model. Earl Pearson Jr. 16.631 Just sayin'
Doubt it knoxville is strick about running sprints even when monster trucks were there they weren't allowed to do anything on the track like doughnuts ect heck even when they had a teactor pull there they didnt do it on the track they pulled in the dirt where they stage the cars they need to open it up and get it racey again and make it accessible to all dort motor sports not just sprint cars
He's just pissed cuz he can't dominate there like Eldora. Knoxville is a top notch track & facility. Eldora is the "dry rubbered up follow the leader" dump!
I have an idea ... quit racing at Knoxville ... most fans of dirt racing prefer Sprintcars. I would *much* rather see another High Limit/WoO event that draws 100 cars and 20k fans vs what this series brings in. This event gets what 40 cars and pays under $10 to win?!?!
Saturday is paying $50,000 to the winner for the Late Models. What JD is asking for is just a little bit of track reconfiguration. Knoxville made the track more narrow, so Knoxville can make it wider if they wanted. Knoxville is never going to host additional national sprint car touring series date this time of year. The Knoxville Nationals are always in August and it makes zero sense to have another national 410 show a month later. Then you've got how far both tours are from Knoxville right now. High Limit and WoO are both not even in the neighborhood at this point in their season. The Outlaws are out West in California. High Limit and USAC are at Eldora for the 4 Crown Nationals. The 4 Crown Nationals in recent years are always right at this time. High Limit is not gonna axe their big show at Eldora to have another one at Knoxville.
The only sprint car event that draws a big crowd at Knoxville is the nationals. The late model nationals is their 2nd biggest show and draws a bigger crowd than another sprint car show would.
@@getinit56Exactly. Knoxville needs late models a lot more than late models need to go there. The late model nationals is their 2nd biggest show and this is the sprint car capital of the world! Lol. The Lucas series could just go somewhere else and be just as successful but it would be a big loss for Knoxville.
@@haiwin224I'm wondering why these people seem to think another sprint car special outside of the nationals would draw a huge crowd, it wouldn't. The late model nationals is their 2nd biggest show, it would be a huge loss for Knoxville if they lost the event.
Yea they need to stop trying to do this late model stuff and run a $20,000 to $ 30,000 to win if you can’t get Woo or high limit then pay your locals a big purse and sure you will draw some invaders also but stop with this late model stuff , not even the fans like it it’s sprint car area
The late model nationals is the 2nd biggest event Knoxville has. Another sprint car special outside of the nationals would likely flop. @@susanmcgalliard7885
Knoxville has the best surface I've ever seen. It's heavy without question. That river bottom clay will literally suck your shoes off. Sprint cars and midgets seem to be able to adjust and put on a good show. As many dry slick tracks late models race on it shouldn't be a surprise late model teams have trouble getting the field up to speed. Maybe they should pass on coming back.
I think you missed the part about where he mentioned just how different the two types of cars are. A late model is a much bigger race car. It doesn't matter how good the surface is, if you are trying to shove multiple, much larger, high speed vehicles into the same spot.
