What can I say? I love Jonathan, he is such a well crafted villain in both the series and the books, you hate him because you fear him but you also love him.
I chose this song, which is the soundtrack to THE CROWN, because every time it moves me, it is dramatic and powerful just as I see these two brothers.

This edit occurs temporally both between the first video, where Alec and Hope are still Parabatai while fighting Valentine, and in the second video when they want to get married.

PLOT:
Hope is in disarray with grief, she has discovered that her father is Valentine and that she also has a brother. The same Valentine who killed her (First video) and who broke the Parabatai bond with Alec.
She should be happy now that they can be together but she is also traumatized, because during her death she was locked in her own head.
Now Alec wants to marry her and she just wants time, so during a night patrol she is attacked by a superior demon Azazel and is saved by another shadowhunters.
She feels instantly connected to Sebastian, she feels better when she's with him and Alec isn't happy at all. She understands that something is wrong, even though the two lovers are no longer linked by any rune.
Sebastian always says the right thing, helps her deal with her pain and anger over Valentine but also tries to distance her from Alec.
Sebastian kisses her but she rejects him, this is where everything changes. She realizes that he is not who she thinks he is, so she follows him and she sees him save Valentine but also transform into a demon.
The truth is in front of her, he is Jonathan, her brother.
When Hope finds Jonathan, some time has passed (second video), Valentine is already dead and this has rekindled all the old traumas.
Now Jonathan is the only family she has.
At this point Alec no longer recognizes her former parabatai, he sees her suffering intensely but also behaving badly, she lies to him about where she is going. She lies to him about having seen her brother again and finds out when Jonathan is arrested by the shadowhunters and confesses it.
Hope no longer knows what to feel, it is undeniable that she feels affection for her brother but he is also a monster, a murderer and Alec doesn't understand it.
All Alec wants is a break and little does she know that it's this pain that brings her into Jonathan's arms, so she runs away with him.
Jonathan's love is extreme, violent and he hurts her parents to protect her. She doesn't know what is right but in a vision she knows that the only way to be whole is to accept evil, so she does.
Time passes, the two brothers travel with the shadowhunters who are looking for them, and they enjoy inflicting pain.
Until Alec's mother finds Hope, she tells her that she didn't end up with her former parabatai because she wanted to ask her to marry him. There's still a chance to get back to the good and Alec is the good of her, so she meets him and Jonathan finds out.
Her brother's grief turns to madness when she discovers that Hope still loves Alec and that she wants to get back with him. The madness makes him a monster, unstoppable and killing dozens of mundanes on the streets.
Only Hope can stop him, breaking their curse, but to do so she will have to sacrifice what she has grown to love.
