I think he was lead in the film A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood though it was promoted as Mister Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks actually its the story of a journalist (played by Mathew Rhys) interviewing Mister Rogers.....its about his life struggles and family problems

I couldn't agree more! (Before this clip I saw him interviewed on The Today Show and it was painful... two American female hosts screeching at him, both trying hard to be flirty and funny.) It's such a welcome break to get to see and hear an actual conversation unfold.

This was really enjoyable to watch. Had to sit down to watch it though because with the accents, it was a bit hard to follow whilst multi-tasking! Matthew Rhys just may well be the most charismatic and charming man out there. I hope he and Keri stay happy forever. They seem like a perfect pairing.

Cadi Delyth Davage What is Eisteddfod? From context I’d guess it’s school or some other rite of passage for young people in Wales, but I’m unfamiliar with the term.
@cadidelythdavage1862
@cadidelythdavage1862 3 года назад
@@portionsredacted7743 The Eisteddfod is the biggest youth competition in Europe, ran by a Welsh movement called the Urdd. It's a national competition for children and young people aged 5-25, involving all sorts of performances, like singing, dancing, musical instruments, art, acting, you name it! Every Welsh speaking school takes part every year, and many English speaking schools as well. It's a HUGE event among schools and young people with thousands taking part every year. If you're Welsh, you would've heard of it, and if your at all into performing and your Welsh speaking, you would've almost definitely taken part in it multiple times. Matthew Rhys probably did (and so have I) which is why he referenced it
@TheAlmightyAss
@TheAlmightyAss 3 года назад
@@cadidelythdavage1862 Is it restricted to schools? I thought it was generally an arts festival.
@cadidelythdavage1862
@cadidelythdavage1862 3 года назад
@@TheAlmightyAss Yes and No to both questions. The Urdd Eisteddfod is for school and uni ages but there is another Eisteddfod called the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol (I know it's confusing!) with rounds for adults. However, in both types of Eisteddfod, it's mainly young people who compete in it. And your not wrong saying it's an Arts Festival either! In the final rounds of both types of Eisteddfod, it has become a festival over the years, with shows, stauls for selling and advertising, basically an arts festival like you said. There's even a youth music festival called Maes B, basically a Welsh version of Reading or Edinburgh festival. But I would personally still say it's first and foremost a youth competition.

His accent is so cool!!!! I watched him in The Americans and I had no idea he was British, and Welsh at that. I did think his voice sounded too much like George Clooney, which made me suspect there was something fishy going on with his accent.
@KSfan4ever

Agree, and there was one word he said that always gave his real accent away: "Secretary" as in "Secretary of Defense". He pronounced it "Secretree" like the Brits always do.

Sorry if you don't care anymore but at 26.40 he said "Mam a Dad! Dweud e iawn bachgen!" which means "Mam and Dad! Say it right boy." and at the end they said "Diolch i gweld ti boy" "Iechyd" "Plesur" which goes along the lines of "good to see you boy" "cheers" "pleasure".

@ChuckNorrisUltra

I believe they are meaning when he is being interviewed and does speak with his accent, but to answer the question, yes, everyone's accent gets heavier when they are speaking with someone that shares their accent. They don't have to worry if they understand what they are saying and can speak quicker. I live in the northern part of the US and have a little southern accent, but get me around another southerner and I can relax and just talk.

Things got a lot better after Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. I'd never seen Gwyneth Paltrow until Emma in 1996. It never occurred to me that she wasn't British. Renee Zellweger was also convincing as Bridget Jones. They put a lot more into dialect coaches these days. On the other hand, Hugh Laurie never sounded convincing as an American as opposed to Stephen Graham in Boardwalk Empire, who did.
