I’m always knitting while I watch podcasts. And 90% of the time, I’m knitting on a sock. Love your content 😊

Fabric in your cardi looks so beautiful - especially the rib. Today I have been doing the tax return whilst watching! So pleased you've had so much (well deserved) interest in your retreats and very envious of anyone able to go.

Just sat and watched this while knitting a baby hat. Just had another grandson who was born and had problems so he had to stay in Nicu. They put a lively hand made hat on him but they said it was the last they had so knitting them some to thank them for the care. I love watching podcasts while I knit. I found yours though Laura Penrose. I usually knit my sweet shop blanket watching.

The colors you chose for your cardigan. 😍😍😍 Loved your reaction to how they showed up on camera! I am of the same mind that you are. Work the buttonbands first so the sleeves will seem easier.

Yay, you totally nailed it when you explained your reluctance to steek! I always thought I was just afraid of steeking. But what you said makes so much sense. Thanks! I also agree with you: I would do the button band first and end with the sleeves. I'm currently working on a test knit for a friend who designed her first sweater. So far, so good! Love your podcast. And looking forward to your newsletter! Greetings from Virginia, USA

I was folding laundry as well while watching this lovely podcast. I often will knit while watching but I have lost my knitting mojo at the moment and have yet to recover it.. I’ve heard before to knit a hat if it happens so that’s next because just forcing myself into it isn’t working so I’ve put it down for now because I don’t want to end up feeling like it’s a chore Looking forward to hearing from you next time , sounds like a good one 💜

Ever since my husbands stepmother found out that I knit, she has been collecting patterns and yarns from charity shops to gift to me at random intervals ❤. One of the patterns she gave me recently was a Brooklyn tweed pattern called the landfall cardigan, which I’ve just cast on! It’s a long cabled cardigan that I’m hoping to use as a fall coat. Coincidentally, my in-laws live in Welshpool, very close to ewe and ply, so I’ll definitely it out the next time we visit them!

Great episode. Ploughing through body of self drafted plain SS 4ply on 3mm with cable detail on raglan & sides so I'm all finished for the Utility shawl launch. Guess what everyone is getting for Christmas..... I do tablet weaving and to have a break between shawls will weave shawl bands to compliment the colours of the shawls inspired by the Hide & Hammer leather ones.

Buttonband first. I’m watching your potcast while knitting my buttonband of my cardigan ( kari from natasja hornby). After I finished the buttonband I will knit the sleeves. It’s handy for the sleeve lenght but most important it will be finished. It takes more time then you think the buttonband while you feel like you almost finished the project.😅

I agree that button band first is the way to go. Adding the button band can affect the way the garment sits on your body which in turn can affect the length of the sleeves.

Personally, I am a great believer in steeking, but each to their own. 😄 As for the order, do one sleeve, THEN the button band, and lastly the second sleeve; that would be my choice to combat sleeve fatigue.

“Do you watch this when you’re not knitting” Yes, actually 😭 I’m often so busy that I spend more time watching knitting podcasts while getting ready for the day or folding clothes than knitting. Not today though! I had a great time watching this video in the car on a roadtrip (not driving obviously). I’m working on the Salt Marsh pullover by Annie Lupton. I love your cardigan! It’s so beautiful. Your color choices are always amazing!
@bethsaylor5325
@bethsaylor5325 2 месяца назад
I have a comment about your cardigan (beautiful colors, BTW). I do think you should do the button band before the sleeves but not for the reason you mentioned. I think the cardi will fit better with the button band already done so that you can judge your sleeve length better. A cardi without a finished band just doesn't sit on the shoulders that well. Stay cool, both in temperature and in personality! We are baking in 90 degrees (32c) with almost 98 percent humidity. Definitely staying in to knit, but with air conditioning.

I’m loving that Tessellated Cardigan! Great color choices. Typically I’m knitting while watching, but today I’m making pesto. We have lots of fresh basil in our garden. @Narcissusknits
@Narcissusknits 2 месяца назад
Button band and collar first, because they impact how the whole cardigan hangs and it's quite hard to judge how long the sleeves should be without the button band, which may pull the shoulders up a little.

To answer your question, I'm not always knitting while watching! If I'm on my personal time, I'm knitting but I wach a lot of podcasts during my job since I often have some mindless work to do (like repetitive things).

buttonband first, since it can change the fit of the cardigan. By knitting it first you can better judge how long your sleeves need to be.

I love the colours of the cardigan. You might want to look at the wrong side of your ribbing to see if it looks better than the right side. If it is for your next project you could do a short row to be able use the better side. Hope this makes sense to you. Check out Tash of Mostly Knitting podcast for a better explanation which is where I learnt this trick. Looking forward to receiving your newsletter in my in box later in the month.
