RE: the question about self-care when you're depressed. I learned in group therapy that when you're struggling to motivate yourself it can help to imagine a positive and comforting figure encouraging you rather than just your own inner monologue. A while ago, whenever I was struggling with my mental health and felt overwhelmed by the prospect of getting up or starting the day, I started imagining JVN's voice telling me to have a gorgeous little self-care moment and go do one small thing for myself at a time. I picked him as he's cheery but simultaneously soothing, and the way he talks to people is SO different from the very harsh and unforgiving way I sometimes talk to myself. It's been genuinely very helpful, so the coincidence of him talking about small acts of self care warmed my heart! x
