Nigeria's Former President Goodluck Jonathan exercised his franchise in Otuoke in Bayelsa State where he urged the NASS to review the off-cycle elections emphasizing that it goes against global best practices. "if we continue with this practice of off-season elections we might come to a time where the presidential election will be off-season".

GEJ use your former office to push change in Nigeria. Election process. You can’t fighting fire in other African countries and your own country is burning.

There is nothing wrong with off season elections. Infact they are more credible. What we need is to streamline and use of relevant technology in our elections for credibilityin results.. what is he talking about? The state of kentuky in America just had an off season governship elections last week. Some state had house elections also.

They don’t have off-season elections in the US. Elections happen every second Week in November every year. Every single election happens on the same day. If there’s a pending vote, it waits till that day. Makes no sense to have 2 elections in one year.

Former president Jonathan is flatly wrong: "off season elections" occur because the constitutional requirement that a governor sits for four years, at a minimum, is fulfilled. When INEC and some courts rig-in governors, but other courts eventually kick out such imposter governors, that immediately ensures that an "off season election" would take place -- see Peter Obi's governorship tenure and Hope Uzọndinjọ's fraudulent assumption of the governorship of Imo state. From when he was president to now, Goodluck Jonathan always expresses less enthusiasm and faith for elections, he considers them wasteful and should be curtailed. This mindset is anti-democratic and unbecoming of someone who observes elections in African countries for the AU/UN. Jonathan's minimization of the value of elections was why he lost to a political eyesore like Buhari in 2015; he should have learned his lesson by now. By the way, we have "off season elections' in the US all of the time; some states just had elections on November 7. Former president Jonathan is confusing the general election with what constitutes elections in the US -- he is wrong. The Nigerian National Assembly should legislate against folks getting sworn into offices without resolution of electoral matters through the courts. In over three decades in the US, I have never heard or witnessed anyone kicked out of office for having not won the election through which he/she came into office in the first place.

He’s a confused man. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with off-season election. In fact, it makes no sense that we doing election at the same time when we don’t have the number of security personnel to keep electorate and INEC personnel safe. It’s factual to state that the off season elections are the most credible to date.

He did his best. Fixing Nigeria is no mean task and will definitely take longer than 6 years that he spent in office, not to mention the mindless insurgency in the north that detracted his government. But very importantly, he set a precedent of peaceful transition by an incumbent who lost election thereby preventing unnecessary bloodshed. In Nigeria and many parts of Africa, that's a commendable legacy

I don't know why people are still blaming Jonathan, I thought because he failed, he was voted out, so let also vote out those you think are not doing well.

Mumu people. Instead of you to blame Buhari for not doing well in the past eight years, you are here blaming Jonathan you refused to vote for in 2015. Blame Buhari and leave Jonathan alone. Tinubu is there now talk to Tinubu to do the right thing now with your bias comment.
