OMG OMG here it is my most favourite album of Jonghyun EVER!! I cant never express how I looooove every details of it enough. His voice, his runs, his high notes that are like no others, his adlibs, his high-adlibs (LOL), his little raps, his whispers, EVERYTHING!! Yes it is quite a lot to take in as one go, but when you do, and then you just keep discovering more and more of the songs, then you're addicted. This is also why I recommend using a headphones when listening to his songs, so you can be able to appreciate every little tiny things he adds in there. Appreciate how great of a composer/an artist he is. 'Moon' and 'Suit Up' are my all time favorite songs of him but of course 'She Is' holds a special place. We Shawols also always joke around that 'Cocktail' is not what you think it is. Those lines "What in my hands is not a glass" and "Pour yourself into me" really is him referring to gay sex LOL Who knows, maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, only Jjong knows LOL And yes, this whole album is a sex album because Jjong is a little horny boy LOL But he's really so sweet about everything. Urgh yes I love this album A LOT.
years later and this is still one of my all time favorite albums from start to finish. like you said, it all correlates since it depicts a love story from start to finish, from she is where the protagonist has just fallen in love to suit up which is the wedding night. outside of that, there’s also so much to appreciate musically, lyrically, vocally. the space trilogy; orbit, aurora but especially moon are some of my favorite songs full stop, k-pop or not. and yeah, it was very well-recieved by fans at the time of release with i think moon and white t-shirt being among the most talked about songs but that could be my own bias speaking as well lol
I'm always biased towards songs becuase of the live stages. Can't even remember which songs I liked on first listen. Now my favorite is 'White T-shirt'. Also have a soft-spot for Orbit because of the cute stroy behind the M-countdown stage: He had co-promoted white T-shirt with 'She is' during the first week, as usual, then randomly a few weeks into promotions, he decided to perform Orbit instead. The fans who came for the filming were surprised, happy to hear it live I'm sure, but they complained about not being told in advance cause they didn't have fan-chants prepared. Jonghyun heard about it from the staff, came out of his dressing room early and worked with the fans to invent fan-chants on the spot, and practiced it with them before the filming.
Hahah you're right Landon. Whenever I have the mood on weekends I will put this album on a blast and let it roll along whatever songs it rolled to. 24:05 also, if you had any naughty interpretation in your head about Cocktail, Landon, that's one was the true one. lol. I think I kinda remember Jonghyun explained somewhere that Cocktail is depicting, ahem, drinking 'people'.
FYI Jonghyun said the “theme” of the album is sex so cocktail is as you can imagine about a certain activity, Suit up is about wedding night activities, taking someone “to the moon”, etc
Moon and White T-Shirt might have been fun as performance vids ^^ - for White T-Shirt we have stage mix (it was the 2nd song he promoted together with She Is, very cute choreo) and for Moon some amazing fancams. Jjong and Adrian McKinnon were inspired by Prince for that song and as a student in the 90s I can just say he really nailed the vibe.
