Never heard the version before. I know the song, but we get to share a first-time experience this time with her version. Just mesmersizing. So glad there is still unheard old music around to enjoy, since little is being made today. Peace to all Americans. Let's move ahead instead of suffering from the past. Let the music play.

By appearance, a little mouse of a girl from the Canadian prairie. But when she opens her mouth, and strums her guitar or tickles the ivories, the lioness of talent within her saunters out and commands attention and respect. One moment, she lifts spirits to scintillating heights, and the next transports us to her private world of sadness and self reflection.

🎶💙I could have written this almost verbatim, but I was 18. In college apt when I heard a knock & opened the door. “Can I come in I’m so f***ing lonely?” Still long distant friends 50+ years. She introduced me to Joni & the Doobie brothers on an amazing stereo that blew me away. Music became my first love. My single Mama was my first, & she bought me a book shaped transistor radio from JCPENNY 1964. 11yo me in Colorado could get WGN & Koma. Heaven. She let me take her console stereo to college. Girls in the dorm would shyly come to our open dorm & ask what song & band was playing. Kept the local Budget Tape & Records in business. Mama, “When you run out of money for food, you’ll have to eat your records.”Our son, “Mom, don’t EVER get rid of your albums.” Boyfriend, now husband, helped me many times moving to different houses, apts & the albums had to be on the front seat. Music is life! 💙🎶

@papercup2517
@papercup2517 3 года назад
@@Hrizzzz I've heard people say that but I don't hear anything foreboding about Joni's song. It seems mystical - almost transcendental - and celebratory, affirmative of our rightful place as children of God/the Universe, trying to get back to that place of spiritual innocence and oneness, where weapons of war could maybe really turn into butterflies, just because half a million people willed it to be so. Without wanting to get into current politics that may be divisive, I thought I felt that spirit in America again just the other day, alive and well, with people dancing in the streets, laughing and shouting for joy, celebrating freedom and another chance, perhaps, to 'get ourselves back to the garden'. Please. please - anyone reading - feel free to ignore that last bit though, if it's distressing for you. Please know that no-one hates you. No-one wants to cheat you. Let the truth come out, as it will. We are all stardust. Love and peace to all.

I was only 14 in '69, but I remember so well. The young people, the hippies, were fighting against, protesting against, the same things we're protesting today. We hated war. We hated racism. We hated sexism. We hated government overreach and police brutality. We tried, we really did. And I thought we had made great strides in the 70's. I still thought things were better even in the 80's. What happened?

Her music, her lyrics, are pure magic. It has been the back ground to my life since 1969. The vocals she does at the end of 'Woodstock' still gives me chills. In a 'Case of You' she sings, "love is touching souls", and indeed she has touched mine.

Pitch-perfect...mesmerizing...masterful...an artist's artist. Now you know why she's had so many devoted fans for decades. This is my favorite version of the song. Its tone is haunting; its lyrics philosophical. No question, it captured the zeitgeist of that era.

I can't hear this without tearing up. She said it. It was the time of man. I was 18, enjoying my life as an East Coast hippie. Loving all of the great music, mother nature and my friends. Behind all of the joy was the fears of the Vietnam Nam War and the draft. So many friends went and came back changed. I was going, reluctantly but willing since I saw my friends go. I was spared by a medical deferment and then the lottery. I will always love this version the best. Bless you Miss Joni

Woodstock the movie is one of the greatest witness to youth culture in the 60’s/70’s. If you can find it, well worth watching. I remember going to the theatre to watch it (on my musician boyfriend’s night off ) and we were blown away. The music! The performers! Woodstock!

Jamel ! I hope and pray that you and yours are all safe and well ! Thank you for playing Joni Mitchell ! No ONE will Ever replace her music, words, musical accompaniments, and her Angel Voice!!!!! Please, when you have time, just find her song - "River" and listen to it... Just like all her other music, it takes you to a place where Joni was... Most of her songs were about her life, her fears, her triumphs, her loves, and on and on.. This little, Canadian girl... Had polio, it jacked her hands.. She had to make up her own chords, her own musical settings on her guitar so she could play it correctly... And she played that old time instrument that you lay across your lap, the Appalachian Dulcimer, wait until you hear her play That, and sing.... God Bless you and yours !! Fran Danco
