i was there in 74 as he played 12 string guitar and did the electronic music, queen shasaras dream. And he played with 2 flute players for a while, Emerald Web. Of course, I have this starmoods tape. John on third floor in space central, in hartford in seventies, with dear Annie. God bless her. You hear her voice on this tape. Had a tape from 74/75 of the guitar/electronic queen shasaras dream. always regret lending it to a friend without copying it first, person died of cancer at age 24 with that tape, but his family lost it in the mist. He was also a friend of Jonn Serrie. Ask him to release ancient work.
Discovered John Serrie in the early 90s while on the road with a country music band. LOL. . But i was experimenting with modular synthesizers at home. I have a few of his early releases and still listen to them often, very often to be exact. ‘First Night Out is one of my favorite tracks.
“First Night Out” was edited, updated, and released on Planetary Chronicles Volume II as “First Night Out”. “Second Night Out”/“Starmoods” is on Planetary Chronicles Volume I as “Starmoods”, in essentially the same form. “Glyph” became “The Auran Vector” on Planetary Chronicles Volume I; in the Planetary Chronicles mix, a couple of glassy sounding pads were added in a few places but the song sounds very similar (and the pads are probably an enhancement, but the original is more vintage analog sounding these days).
Whoever’s running this channel must’ve loved the 70s and 80s for a different reason to everyone else, such an incredible catalogue of albums that keep coming 🙏🏼
i only knew the song “second night out” as “starmoods”, which happens to be one of my fav songs. extremely happy to find out there’s two other sections to it.
Yep. Track 1 was edited, made shorter, and appeared on Planetary Chronicles II. Tracks 2 and 3 were not edited, but they had a few extra digital sounds added (which do not change the essential character of the songs) and were made part of Planetary Chronicles I.
I cant thank you enough for uploading this, i played it several times at the beginning of each of my flights to visit my grandfather in georgia and it was spellbinding each time i did it. In fact, if you play it in precisely the right way in which the music kicks in right as the plane accelerates towards leaving the ground it will sync up perfectly with reaching above the clouds. Its almost as if it was designed to be played during airplane flights!!
Was listening to some Micheal Stearns and then came across this delightful little channel....✌🏻 bed time reading is chilled and relaxed. Peace & love& serenity.....
If you are a fan of John's music, by the way this is an early piece... you can find all of his music on any platform you look. a fantastic artist any way you care to look....dose most of his work in his own studio at home!
In college in ‘77, discovered the Univ of Penn radio station program: “Star’s End” on a Saturday night, after a concert at the old Spectrum in Philly. Every Sat night at 2am (or was it 1am?) they played electronic space music till sunrise, signing off w/ Hendrix’s Star Spangled Banner from Woodstock. Usually came home burned out from all the smoking, at concert or partying with friends.
I just discovered this channel but I feel like I have been a listener of the channel's content before, It is definitely worth the time to stop by this beautiful channel of yours - Khan
