I have a friend in one of the mid states who used to rave about Trump and then she and I started to talk and have long conversations about politics which we’d never done before and she realised that she had been blindly following what her husband, in-laws and friends around her had been saying like it was gospel. I at least helped her to check out her facts before just following their lead. She was welcome to believe what she wanted, but to at least be well informed first, because you can lead a horse to water but if it chooses to drink the Koolade 🤷🏻♀️🫣🤔
I work on keeping an open dialogue with my friends and acquaintances. It's hard in the Midwest. I focus on the few that are receptive. Or democracy depends on them realizing what they are doing. "It's easier to fool someone, then to prove to them that they are being fooled."

I didn't vote for Trump in '16 but I feel like, at the time, the temperature of the average person in the country was that they wanted something different than the normal political families that were always on the ballot. I personally was surprised when he was elected but I thought that maybe there was a chance he could be a great President as an outsider. I thought, as I'm sure many others did too, that his insane rhetoric would stop once he was in office and realized how serious the job was... I was wrong.
My stepdad watches Fox News, love Trump, and decries the immigrants ruining America. He is literally the son of an illegal immigrant. Not making that up. His dad emigrated from Italy to Canada and entered the U.S. without authorization. I want to invite him to deport himself at any time, but he's one of these Trump types with such thin skin they can't handle anybody questioning or criticizing them without getting bent completely out of shape.

Klepper's patience has started to run out with these people and you can see it in how he handles the MAGA crowd in this video compared to previous coverage. I'm 100% for it.

Almost 600 people have been convicted for crimes related to the Jan 6th insurrection, 160 of them for felonies. Over 1000 people have been charged. This entire thing was a grift from the beginning. Look at Trump's face on election night, he didn't want to win. That's why in some interviews like when Jordan Klepper talked to the Trucker Convoy idiots, some of the faces were blurred out. I voted for Trump twice, but wouldn’t a third time. The problem with so many people is that they’re loyal to their tribe, not their own values. They’ll emotionally rationalize their stance on their party’s candidate, and confuse it for logic. The hypocrisy from the far right and staunch Biden supporters alike is remarkably unbelievable.

I used to think, for years, that these people should take IQ tests, but I've been thinking about it all wrong. They should also take psychological tests. I was in a special education program for emotional reasons and I was helping to teach them basic math and English at 17 years old They are allowed a full high school diploma even though they only took remedial classes the whole time. There were more people like that in my special education classes than there were like me by a long shot. It seems a little unfair that their diploma means just as much as mine if I'm being honest, especially since I knew half of them were just lazy and didn't want to learn anything. The amount that actually had a legitimate learning disability was surprisingly low. I've literally known kids with down syndrome that outperformed these people, it's not a mystery to me.
