Jordan - Part two: Wadi Rum desert

I spent 11 Nights in Jordan, experiencing the streets, beaches and food of Aqaba; exploring the lost city of Petra, diving in the reefs of the red sea and following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia through the red sands of the Wadi Rum desert.
Part two of my Jordan trip was spent exploring the Wadi Rum reserve in Jordan, an incredible landscape full of history.
This was a personal highlight of the entire trip for me, not only for the incredible views, but the hospitality of the local Bedouin was outstanding.
Starting at Wadi Rum village, we began our 4x4 trip with our guide and visited 'Lawrence's spring', a naturally occurring desert spring on top of a mountain side. We moved on to a ravine containing early inscriptions from Nabataeans, then 'Lawrence's house' (built by the Nabataeans, made famous by T.E. Lawrence), Mushroom rock, spectacular valleys, naturally formed bridge formations in the rocks and ended on the peak of a mountain watching the sunset.
I stayed overnight in a desert camp and enjoyed an incredible traditionally cooked dinner, finished with Bedouin tea and a great nights sleep.
If you visit Jordan, make sure you experience the Wadi Rum desert. I had the time of my life.

what is the meaning of these piles of stones

They usually mark a boundary or way point during a hike, I know them as 'cairns'. It was not explained to me to have any other significance than people who have visited and wanted to leave a natural mark behind! These are located right next to 'Lawrence's house'.

Is it a good time to travel to Petra in October/November?

October is a really good time to visit Petra, its going to be alot cooler and a more comfertable heat at its highs. Remember to bring a jacket for early mornings and for when out of the sun, parts of Petra such as the Siq are quite cold in the early hours. I visited Petra in March and this was a really comfertable temperature although the highs were reaching 34'c so I just had to watch my time in the sun. To answer November time, Winter runs from December to February and its possible to receive a lot of rainfall. I would expect the temperatures to begin to fall at either end of the scales but still be comfertable, just keep an eye out for the day you have planned.

@bellaem6409 I met a few but not many at all. In Jordan, I met a Japanese guy solo travelling while scuba diving. There were a few couples travelling together aswell. Its strange because when I say ive been there and travelled alone people are really surprised and say they never would but I will tell you now.. It was one of the safest places ive been, I met so many brilliant people, especially Jordanians who are so hospitable and proud to be so. I genuinely had people approach me and ask if I wanted to join them for lunch or drinks just because I was solo. You dont have too, sometimes I said no (due to plans) but when I could I did and it was so enjoyable. I will be going back, because I didnt get to experience the North, the capital and the dead sea which I would love too.
