In this video, I'm sharing with you why Jordans aren't worth it! $210 is way too expensive for Nike's latest shoes!
Jordans are one of the most popular sneakers out there, but is their price justified? In this video, I'm sharing with you my thoughts on Jordans and whether or not they're worth the price! I think you'll agree with me when I say that $210 is way too expensive for a pair of shoes!

Problem is when they make more shoes the resale value tanks and when the shoe bricks resellers don’t buy them and they don’t sell out and probably go on sale. When they make too many they wind up sitting on them and they don’t want to sit on them. Shoes only sell out bc of the resellers hoarding up tons of pairs and when the value is low they pass then that increased supply sits. Ur probably thinking great I can cop. But now they sitting on 100k pairs on their books which they don’t want.
@louivillehammer4346

@@sneakerhead4770the shoes cost 10-20 bucks to make, even if Nike sold them for 70 bucks they still make insane profit.
@sneakerhead4770
@sneakerhead4770 Год назад
@@louivillehammer4346 nah bro it doesn’t work like that exactly. So cost of production might be a few dollars. Up to around 5 let’s say. Then shipping on a vessel per unit is negligible. Even when shipping containers were at their peak price they can fit so many pairs on 1 40’ container. Let’s say 1$ max. Then they have to pay import duties which is the most expensive aspect. Maybe 20 bucks. On boots the tax is very very high on athletic shoes it’s less but still expensive. So now u are around 25-30 and the shoes are still at port right? Now u hire a trucking company to pick them up bring them to ur warehouse. Then u distribute to other warehouses and send to retailers also which get a discount. Now u have huge overheads. How many employees does Nike have? How many buildings and warehouses? Marketing? Athlete endorsements? Design teams etc etc. They wind up making 5-10% on a shoe after all the dust settles. They feed a lot of mouths and families. Where they make a killing is off socks tshirts sweatpants the margins are way better. The margins on shoes are worse. Those other garments cost them a fraction of what the shoes cost. Also they sell the shoes to retailers for a wholesale price so when u average it all together they and minus cost of goods and minuses expenses they don’t make what people think they do. They operate globally they have all types of expenses

I definitely feel where you coming from but saying “ if the reimagines go for 210 or 220 I’ll let that slide but not for the 7s or 14s” is the exact reason why they feel like they can charge 210 across the board. If you gonna pay that for one shoe you can pay that for the others in their eyes. Don’t let one group slide stand 10 toes down on all of them being overpriced so they know as a consumer you’re not ok with that.

I believe Nike or Jordan Brand may have increased there prices simply to cut out the middle man which would be the reseller . If the reseller get the shoe and tries to flip it it would be impossible because the resellers price is already extremely high to make a sale . I believe $210 is high but understanding the reason behind it i can see why . The reseller wont make a profit nor will they purchase for the original price forcing the consumer to want to purchase at retail .

Thanks for the content on this topic. Nike and Jordan brand have been taking advantage of the inflation narrative to price gouge their loyal customers. I’ve been a life long loyal consumer of J’s since the 80s, however Nike and Jordan brand should understand we’re getting tired of missing impossible drops on kicks we really want , then being forced into purchasing kicks like the visionairs, or the brotherhood 1s. Other brands like New balance for example will fill the void to people tired of the BS.

Your first 3 words (after inflation) is exactly my point. They’re taking advantage. I don’t ever remember saying, or implying that Nike shouldn’t maximize profits for their shareholders. My point is the rate of increase on some of their products don’t mach the rate of inflation to justify the obvious gouging evident in the price increases to the loyal fan base keeping them solidly profitable. This strategy could backfire turning many lifelong consumers bitterly looking for a substitute. That’s economics 101!
@ko9600
@ko9600 Год назад
No disrespect, I think you’re missing my point. Of course any simpleton with the most basic rudimentary fundamental understanding of basic business understands, business is a for profit venture. Like Tony very plainly explained in the video, most people don’t mind paying fair prices for things they like. My point is, those same people usually don’t want to feel taken advantage of. While Nike is all about maximizing potential profits, I can assure you they don’t want to loose a loyal customer base to a rival business.

All true!!! I’m buying selective shoes this year!!! Save me some money. Plus if I can’t buy them for retail. It won’t bother me paying resell. Paying 200+ almost every week is a deal breaker for me.

Even with the exchange, try buying sneakers in Canada. A standard Jordan 1 High is $235, any of the 3's at $360, hell... the cool grey 11's were $290, then depending on tax you are looking at close to $270-350 for any pairs or Jordans.

I’ve noticed Jordan 4’s have went up $20 in a year. I paid 190 + tax for the red thunders this time last year and now the Jordan 4 craft is retail $210.

Military Blacks and Midnight Navy 4s were also $210... but 2 fire pairs

If folks consider themselves “sneaker heads” they gotta start branching out to different brands. NB, Saucony, Asics all have great stories and materials for the same price and/or less.

Exactly. Jordan's are classic! But how many colors of the same model does someone need? Prices were going to increase eventually. A bunch of people follow...and real sneaker heads are rare.

I’ve been saying the same thing jordan/Nike are getting out of hand with these insane prices $200-210 for some regular GR’s is crazy. And the leather material isn’t all that great. But Nike/Jordan brand knows how to play the game & that’s by taking out the resellers!!

Lol it’s getting to be too much now. I live in Canada and I haven’t paid below 250 for a Jordan since maybeeee 2012 (with the exception of the lows). And I know some will say “the exchange rate”, well because of how high are taxes are, it nulls out what ever that exchange equals out to, plus more.

The difference with foams and Jordans is that foams will last much longer than a Jordan. No creasing is the biggest thing imo. The thing I always think about is, how many sneakers do I need and how many will I actually wear. I work a 40+ hour work week and don’t go out much yet I have 70+ sneakers still DS. I’ve bought a pair of Jordans and seen them release again years later yet the last pair I bought is still DS. Happened with me with the Hare 7s, Black infared 7s, and the Fire Red 3s yet I still picked up the rerelease.

The AJ2 st $200 was wack when it was supposed to be $175. Still copped since an OG and needed for the collection.

Great great video topic #tonyd2wild, you picked a nice one to debate! I'm an old head and the way I look at it, especially as of late is that EVERYTHING is up. This will have different opinions from everyone. For me it's easier to accept newer prices because understanding supply chain/business first off and I know of a war that we're (USA) supporting😤(Ukraine/Russia),and the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic.😰The pandemic affected EVERYONE and EVERYTHING right?...9/11 was such a tragic event but didn't even impact EVERYONE! I personally have a decent collection but only buy what I like and know I'll rock w/some mild reselling on the side. I feel it's going to boil down to ones pockets and responsibilities. Also, will one rock it? No hype beast type sh*t. When AF1's went up I was a little shocked initially, but sat backed and realized everything was increasing. We're in some unprecedented times so we're seeing a lot. Ask yourself this Tony, you started 10 yrs ago when Yeezy's didn't exist and J's were $30-40 cheaper. However, today do you make $40 more a hour/day/week/month? Can you afford that extra for "shoes" (they're not literally edible, but you can eat off them) This type of questioning helps me decide on things and may be the type of thoughts others have as these shoes we love continue to rise in price! Hell eggs are officially $3+ more than 12 months ago in my area. I buy 3-5 dozens a month. Wings are another thing that is ridiculous dining out. We all are paying the inflation on everyday living/necessities, now one must decide if the kicks are worth it. I was picky at the top of 2022, I'll be even pickier this year. Keep doing ya thing. BLESSINGS

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 they keep raising the price and lowering the quality. Glue stains, mold, auto-crease pleather. Maaan! The NBs and Yeezys were way less money and way more butter last year. Jordan falling off a lil and I hope they hear you!!!

Honestly better than resell man…if I can cop retail every time I would it’s mostly just the hype sneakers that we want that sells out…me getting those re imagine 3’s? I have to get lucky to hit retail lol

Jordan’s have just gone up again too in the U.K. we now pay £190 for a normal retro and £165 for a 1 depending on the 1 converted to the dollars that’s $228 for a normal retro and $198 for a 1, I been saying for years jordan are too expensive and now it’s ridiculous I’m definitely going to be more picky this year

$210 for Jordan’s is insane! Crossing over $200 is disrespectful to hard working people. I’ll still cop but only my top 4-5 releases

Yea I agree fam thats why this last year I was very selective with my pick ups. Basically got OGs and a couple of hyped releases. Im willing to pay a little more for OGs. Jordan/ Nike only cares bout that cash not the people. Quality is still trash on GRs. at 210 I cant afford every pick up. Also yea its $10 more but now you gotta pay tax on that $10 which ends up being more.
