Jorg was talking about how they're staying for the 10 years promised or more and the guy follows up with a question relating to someone else saying they will abandon flight sims again. And then again at 13:10. You call this an awesome interview ?

I understand them wanting to appeal to those who aren't interested in a realistic experience flying in the system, but I'm much more concerned with realistic ATC so IFR navigation/procedures can be replicated (including things like air-filing FPs/alternates) as well as bringing back the "Previous Situation" feature that X-Plane (and FS9, for that matter) feature. It's a PITA to have to start each flight "from scratch" rather than being able to pick up where you left off in the last session, whether that's starting up where you shut down, regardless of location (with the option to update real world time/weather), or simply going to a "pause mode" where you can shut the program down and when you re-start, you'll be right where you were (the same HDG, ALT, speed, local time/weather, which would have to be "static") when you shut down the program. Further, it would be nice to have a "virtual relief pilot" mode where you can, for example, do an overnight flight where you conduct the flight to the cruise phase, leave the sim running, go to bed (during which time the relief pilot or FO could handle ATC calls/instructions). When you get up, you could resume control of the flight. It would be even better if you could let it run until a pre-determined point (such as TOD) and pause there until you resumed control (In case you oversleep or simply want to delay retuning to the flight). I know some things like this can be done indirectly (such as speeding up the sim rate or skipping to different flight phases), but it can be a pain and less immersive.

@minobg79

You can actually do the "relief pilot" thing, from the top menu through Flight Assistent, enabeling AI piloting and AI ATC control. As for ATC itself, yes it is bad, and there is clearly no interest to make it better. Also hoping for BeyondATC addon to fix it.

A lot of people seem to get fired up about things like the weather API not being opened up, limitations around past weather etc etc etc, and I think it's worth just stepping back a moment and looking at how far the MSFS has come since the FSX days and then project that forward and just imagine what the future can hold as everything from cloud architecture to desktop CPU's and graphics cards continues to evolve at such a rapid rate. But also don't forget, there are intellectual property assets that Microsoft has clearly spent a ton of money developing, so why would they open all of that up for competitors to utilise in their own products? At the end of the day, Microsoft needs to make money with it's products, so if that means keeping some elements under covers, then you just have to live with it.

The weather thing is Meteoblue not opening up. Its their weather data and its their product. And theyre not having it with the idea of "opening it up" to other developers. What people really want though, is a weather Radar. But even that, they cant do because Meteoblue says no.

Please don’t try to make multiplayer compatible with MSFS2020 but instead redesign the multiplayer code completely so that it becomes reliable. For me, flying with friends is the most enjoyable part of simming and the experience right now is very frustrating.

Just this past week I received a new Pimax Crystal VR headset, and installed my own version of MSFS for the first time. When you first see that cockpit in 3D in a Cessna 172 if your brain is not blown away, there is probable something wrong with you. BTW - The Toolbar only works in Cockpit view when in VR. You have to use the keyboard commands to get back to both the cockpit view and the Toolbar. The same for Pause when in the external views. Tore my hair out on that one. And the Internet blogs are full of wrong answers. You must get "Data/Online Functionality" turned on too. The sim installs with it turned off which means a lot of stuff does not work including the store and Content Manager.

As A long time flight simmer of over 20 years I only recently bought fs2020 and I'm blown away by the level of realism, I was shocked to learn there's already a new one on the horizon and I have to ask why? Surely it would make more sense to keep updating the current version as I don't expect there will be that big of an increase in graphics or other technology, given the performance demands of flight sims it seems like the cost of hardware it makes sense to allow for new users to join the community as cost of compatible hardware reduces.

Go look at their keynote address at this year's FSExpo and you will see why the new version is justified.
@diveguy4291
@diveguy4291 10 месяцев назад
@@tubeloobs I already have, it makes sense given the technical issues they have with fs2020 and it missing many many thr traditional features of past versions, but I think they have a marketing issue in replacing it so soon, its quite an expensive sim, I only recently purchased it having been meaning to get around to it since it's release and I'm not exactly eager to throw more money at a replacement, but I am excited to see if its going to iron out what is already the best flight simulator in history, also with it being cloud based I think there is an issue around justifying the high price tag since you can't own something that you can't operate offline anyway, presumably at some point they will cease support for it at which point does it become unplayable? They only seem to be interested in the next ten years, which already suggests to me they don't see a long term future in flight simulator so I have concerns about that, I want to know that if this is the last ever version that I will be able to play it as long as I desire which I suspect won't be the case. Either way, I'm glad they're going forward but they're going to need to really sell it to people cos it does feel too soon.
@tubeloobs
@tubeloobs 10 месяцев назад
@@diveguy4291 It can be purchased for $60 So I don't see why that makes it very expensive. I paid $60 for my copy of FSX back in the day. We don't know if there will be an option to put everything on the hard drive. Based on what I've seen and heard, I'm already sold. The day 2024 comes out is the day I delete 2020 from my SSD

To offset the weather by 12 hours would be awesome. I fly in the evening or at night and would like to do a dayflight in my current location.:)
@dtrjones
@dtrjones 10 месяцев назад
I didn't understand that part, are you guys just saying you want to fly the same weather it was during the daylight hours? Why not just set the clock back and put up with whatever the current weather is? Does the weather behave differently at night, I guess that's the point you're making right because the air is cooler during night than it is during day. I have a different approach to this. I look at the World Map and fly where I want the level of light to be, in that way I'm always getting realistic experiences and it forces me to look around the globe and I've had a wonderful time flying in places I would not normally be.
@Jan-1337
@Jan-1337 10 месяцев назад
@@dtrjones Yes, that's exactly it. A part of immersion for me is that the weather in the simulation corresponds to the current weather at the respective time of day. Unfortunately, I can't fly 'live' during the day because I'm at work. When I have time in the evenings, I'd like to catch up on my flying. For example, if it briefly rained during the day over a specific region I want to fly over at a certain time, I would like to experience that at that exact time, regardless of when I'm at the PC. Currently, I would have to try to manually adjust the weather conditions over specific regions each time (preferably with the weather forecast by my side), which would be quite cumbersome. It would be great not to have to manually manage it for an authentic experience. But as you've already mentioned, it's always a great experience, and nobody will die without this feature, though it's a 'nice to have. have a nice weekend :)

Getting quite disillusioned with MSFS2020 on Xbox (X) as for the last few updates it’s become so unreliable and crashes a lot. MP updates have become really lacklustre, most the airport addons can’t be used on Xbox as it causes black avionics or crashes. Feels like MSFS has more or less given up trying to fix even the most basic issues and some bugs have been there for over a year. For example, on console the model matching is completely broken even for the inbuilt planes, the F18, one of the most flown aircraft according to MSFS always appears as an A320 really spoils the immersion. I think the simulation just doesn’t work on console anymore I spend so much time restarting the sim

We are getting the flight model on a different core, that’s basically it for multithreading they have said. They say that gives a good boost to performance.
