Every time I see this my heart and soul burst with the deepest appreciation. So much beauty! Masters of their art who have nothing to prove and give everything from the depths of their beings ❤❤❤
It is so hard to put into words why Jorge Itovich Donn means so much to me, why he pierces my broken heart and goes straight to my soul. Of course there is the majesty of his physical instrument, the talent and plasticity and range he was born with. But as a former dancer myself, one who shifted from ballet to many forms of modern and eventually to aerial and pole work, what I think touches me most deeply I’d Donn’s humility. He is 100% committed to dance, in whatever form it takes. His body and soul give themselves over completely to tell the story in whatever movement language expresses it. There is no judgment or distinction, just devotion to the art of dance.
look up kabuki and bando tamasaburo. when you get into those videos you will understand the art of traditional japanese dancing. also i think interpretive dancing went into this as well.
tbh, he seems out of place when tamasaburo comes out. i kinda hate when other people try to imitate kabuki in their own way. it always ends up looking like an amateur attempting and then overdoing it to the point where it looks like too much.
