Kudos to Marc for knowing when to just let Jorge run with the dialogue. Great interview. Edit - 3:32 I believe ambassador is the word Jorge was looking for.
Let's hope so, I'm sorry but Colby is such a scumbag for not only how he carries himself but how he treats his family, friends, teammates, and coaches.
yeah you prolly think its tough and cool, but its not what a sportsman or athlete say. i like to watch masvidal fight but his person is terrible, wouldnt want to hang out with him for a million, seem like an unstable mofo, i feel same way about covington too, will be great to watch them smash eachother up, maybe they will be proper sportsmen after the fight
Athletes especially guys who fight in a cage shouldn’t be a role model. If they are to someone it’s how they play their respective sport. Why would you look up to a man who plays a game or fights in a cage for any type of morality guidance.
@@oldironsides4107 because of the journey and the hard ship to get where they are. Role model doesn't mean you gotta be perfect cause no human is. Who do you want to be role models politicians?
What an incredible interview. Just completely fleshed out the story from start to finish. Kudos to the interviewer for making it about the fighter, and not about himself. Also, knowing the right questions to ask and letting Jorge speak.
I feel like Jorge told his side honestly and whole heartedly. It appears Masvidal was more effected by this lost friendship than Colby. Colby sees fighting as simply a job, but fighting and the culture is his entire life.
If Jorge was his best friend then Why would he be mad at Colby for doing what he had to do to keep his job. Jorge didn’t have a problem with Colby until Colby won the title
You say that like this is your first time seeing him. Marc Raimondi has been covering the sport for years and doing ESPN stuff since they partnered with the UFC.
His focus, his honesty has earned a lot of respect. I already respected him as a fighter. It seems like he’s thought this fight through and isn’t emotionally attached to the fight.
I honestly believe Jorge 100%. I don't mean this as an insult, because he doesn't claim to be a scholar but I don't think he's smart enough to lie so fluidly. I would make a huge bet that everything he just said was 100% true. Guys like him and Diaz have the following that they do because they're just real.
Yeah, you’d have to be a politician to be THAT good a liar. He’s speaking truth, his truth, whether it’s true or not, he’s saying what he feels happened and what most likely did.
@@robbyrodriguez9984 watched dan Lambert interview right now on ESPN channel and Colby was really getting cut after UFC singapore so he made a persona and he has to keep this persona and people had problem with that persona ,
@@Jealod24 So you people are experts now? RU-vid comments are funny. He’s doing an interview, he’s had a long time to think about what happened and what he tells people.
@@dr.loomis4221 I don’t think it’s that black & white.. You can go into extreme detail & be truthful. I think it’s more-so irrelevant and unnecessary detail that raises that red flag you’re talking about.
A well recited story. No beef. Helping each other make pay per view $. They’ve punched each other in the face many times in sparring. Now doing it for $. We all know Colby’s act is an act. This is no different.
Don't think ppl realized how much this bothered Jorge. He's a very loyal man. Someone he did so much for stabbing him in the back had to hurt him deeply. Some real hatred but also sadness in his eyes/tone towards a former friend.
Colby is a real life good and humble dude who portrays this persona of a bad guy but Jorge acts like he is the most down to earth and genuine guy while some people who have met him in person knows what he truly is 🙏
@@shikharsingh2971 Colby's not a great and humble dude. Just because he has an obvious shtick doesn't mean his actual personality is any better, especially not when almost everyone at ATT hated him.
Jorge's a real dude. One thing I noticed about Colby during the countdown show was that he seemed ungrateful, character or not, while Jorge will give people credit. I hope Jorge takes this one.
Totally been thru the same thing supporting a friend and everything for years. Sometimes it’s better to cut off the people you thought were your best friend. 👏🏽
@@tiagoribeiro885 if you think this is real, you’re a gullible moron. The entire video was selling Colby as a bad guy. You still buy the “good guy vs bad guy” act? You’re a fool.
Even though Masvidal is a decorated striker, Colby has improved his striking significantly he even gave Usman problems on the feet that’s just scary combined with his relentless pace and wrestling.
@Youngest Person That Saw Conor Or Tony Win A Fight Idgaf. He still got knocked out after ranting that usman's got pillow hands the most out of any fighter he faced.
It’s always that one nerd who you tell a story to, and they just don’t get it. Raimondi asking Jorge what was going to happen at the Sushi place was a moment in nerd history lol. “Were you going to talk or fight him at the sushi place?!” Jorge looking at him with that blank stare was priceless…LMAO
I really think this interview is gonna have a lot of people rethinking this fight: -Jorge is really thinking about this fight strategically (heavy wrestling work, recognizing Colby’s cardio) -Jorge talking about Colby’s past friendship, not hatefully but in a retrospective way.
It’s honestly kind of sad. Masvidal is a real dude and you can see in his eyes/body language/energy that he’s genuinely hurt by the falling out w/ Colby.
You right. I was a fan of Colby's cardio and striking rate, and really just ignored his shtick, but this interview might have swung me the other way. I think both aren't great dudes. I think Masvidal is less civil than he claims to be, but Colby is less brave than he claims to be. They both are deceptive. One is better at hiding his evil, the other is worse at pretending to be a badass. They both suck and they are both entertaining. They can be both.
The interviewer is GREAT that is who ESPN needs on the MMA interviews constantly and yes the people at ESPN take notes! Interviews like this Actually sells the fight & makes it more interesting shoutout to the Guy way to go💯💪🏽💪🏽🙌🏽
Everyone does. As real as it gets. Keeping truth speaks volumes about longevity, thats why he is still a top draw after 20 years of professional fighting. Also the fact that he has the same coach for 20 years and everybody at ATT loves him. Just a poor kid that made it in life with pure hard work, really hard for a real MMA fan to not respect Masvidal.
Jorge's side of story sounds genuine for some reason. I hope he gets the win but it's gonna be tough for him. It's not the right that always wins but the strongest. Colby went full distance with usman and seems to have a better cardio, wrestling and ground game. But jorge very lethal in the earlier rounds. Either way, maybe the best man win, can't wait for the fight.
Jorge went the distance with usman once aswell. Got dusted the second one yes. But I bet all yall thought he was going to loose against Till, & what happened? Oh yaaaa sleptttt, stand by fuckas
There a big difference in who these two guys are. Jorge straight up gangster outside the cage, and turns into a pro fighter in the cage. Colby is a regular guy with insecurities outside the cage and an amazing fighter inside the cage. The cage has a ref and rules etc. Colby feels safe inside the cage. However as a man he is afraid of Jorge outside the octagon.
dude if colby mauls jorge inside the cage then imagine what he will do to him outside the cage with no rules he will take him down and knee him elbow him to death lol, ur statement is saying that khabib will lose to strikers in steet fight but actually khabib will kill evry lightweight in street fight
@@Unexpectedthings007 Well colby just doesn’t seem like he’s about it in person as he always avoids confrontations like calling the cops and stuff. I still think think he’s gunna beat jorge
There's also a big difference in a street fight, colby goes for a takedown and all jorge needs to do is hammer first or elbow the back of the head and that will scramble anyone's eggs
Here’s the thing.. When Masvidal fought Usman for the first time, he did a decent job defending takedowns. For the second fight he invested everything into wrestling and cardio and ignored the standup game because Usman’s punches in the first fight didn’t affect him. And the fact that we didn’t get to see his wrestling improvement because of K.O. early on makes this fight really interesting. I think Colby will not take him down as many times as he thinks, but we have to see it to know it. Masvidal was being overconfident, cocky in the second fight with Usman. There was some beef, but it wasn’t real, so Masvidal was putting on a performance and underestimated Usman’s stand up game. Which is normal since Usman didn’t show his power after 5 rounds in the first fight. With Colby I don’t see Masvidal laughing and trying to be a clown. I see him being serial killer that wants to tear up Colby, because it’s that serious. I think Masvidal really wants to end this dude inside and outside the cage..
I agree, him getting finished so quickly in the second fight didn't allow us to see how much his wrestling has improved. Bo Nickal is more accomplished than Colby and Usman. Really, that's all that needs to be said, because he's sharpening his skills with a guy that would beat both. There's no way that if you compete with a high level fighter in any discipline you're going to develop in leaps and bounds. Yeah you're gonna get dominated hard for a long time, but you're getting better.
@@chuckseasel9505 Also crossed my mind, but Colby knows how to act and lie, Masvidal is a terrible actor. You can see that he’s talking honestly. There’s nothing fake in this interview.
@@chuckseasel9505 No they didn't, and it's just far-fetched to believe that. I know Jessie from Jessie On Fire is saying that, but I think it's a pretty meritless conspiracy theory. I don't mind Jessie's hustle, but the guy has created this little bubble where he can rattle off all his theories without anyone to give him pushback.
@@proudindian9140 yeah that’s what made him famous, not the knee, not the three piece, that all helped tremendously, but it wasn’t what made Jorge a star. What made him the star is his story (20+ year vet pushing towards title), but most importantly who he is and who he represents. His personality and character (according to the people that know him). He’s street life that went straight, and realized his potential while mostly keeping who he is as a person intact. For a while he started letting the game get to his head and started acting a little out of character. That’s expected with fame and power, but Usman humbled him a few notches and I think he realized that changing who you are doesn’t matter if you don’t win, so why not stay true to yourself win or lose?
Masvidals always been the realest I think his last performance against usman has made people forgot how good he can be at his best, he can definitely beat Colby but Colby is un real as well definitely the favourite for a reason
Anybody who doubts Masvidal needs to watch his fight with Diaz. That was like a rottweiler in a cage with a kitten. He was unbelievably vicious in that fight.
This interview changed my mind about the outcome of the fight. While I still give Colby the edge due to his endurance and pace (a lot of suggestions that he is on PED’s) - it’s clear that Jorge KNOWS this guy, inside and out. I just hope he still has enough left in the tank to get this victory.
Bro every professional athletes in every sport uses some sort of enhancer even Nate Diaz said everyone is in peds everyone just think about how much money is on the line
Colby hatessss confrontation with a passion. He can beat the best fighters ever but still cower when confronted. That’s how u can tell the kind of guy he is.
Man, this fight has to have the most emotional baggage attached to it. Even more than the Khabib-McGregor fight, because these guys knew each other. Can't wait, my respect always goes out to Masvidal.
@@Brathaa Imagine being close, living with each other, and now despising each other. That sense of betrayal on both sides...McGregor-Khabib were still strangers to each other.
21:05 That's one of the coldest, sickest moments from any mma interview I've seen. Look at his face when he answers the question. The best part is before this he's talking like he actually does want to just talk it out. Then the interviewer asks the question to clarify and you sort of snap back to reality. Colby was dead to him as soon as he ripped off the coach.
Won't find many fights where one fighter is under THIS much pressure. This gets about as "must win" as they come for Masvidal. Rooting for him but he's in for one helluva fight.
so is for colby and even more so if he loses to jorge he will lose any stock he has cuz he doesn’t have a win over any ranked ww rn also he will have a very hard time getting the 3rd usman fight which means his career might be in the mud
The idiots who said 50-45 Colby are just looking at the Marty fights, and not realizing that Colby is not Marty. And those people also think jorge has no takedown defense when anytime Marty took him down he got right back up. Showed multiple times in his career that he has good wrestling and bjj but the casual fans act like Colby is khabib and is just gonna maul him lol
Win, lose, or draw. Huge Fan! Mad respect and Love. He's a real one like the Diaz brothers. How can you not cheer for real and genuine people. People just want real and genuine people and relationships. No bush beating. Just upfront my kind of people.
Jorge is very good at talking. Smooth, natural , fluid speaker. Can listen to Jorge interviews all day. I was leaning towards Colby coming into this fight but Jorge is making me question that. Cant wait for the fight.
@@jaydonbeckham2341 dude that time masvidal had so much hype behind him and don't forget it was vividh time so nobody can attend the event so people who comes to the stadium to watch also buyed the ppv
I feel like Jorge really told the whole honest truth as much as I like Colby as a fighter he’s dead in the wrong and should pay what he owes and apologize!
@@akilbrazier1421 on that other clip with Stephen A which drops Tuesday i think. Dana had posted a snippet on his ig. You can easily tell Colby owes money and is lying lol. He tries to dodge the question and change the topic. Masvidal said he owed like 12k or something.
I don't know who's in the wrong. But you ask me I'll be more likely to believe that Jorge wasn't feeling too comfortable with Colby's success. I'm not judging anybody, I think it makes sense, especially between 2 very competitive individuals at their level. But to be fair, it can also be bias. I used to love Jorge but since his stuff with Jake Paul I lost my respect for him
You can just tell Masvidal is being honest about everything and is just a genuine guy. That being said, 50-45 to Colby on all scorecards Saturday night
Why do people act like Masvidal doesn’t have good takedown defence lol? He got up numerous times vs Usman and he’s shown in a lot of fights that he has very decent grappling and very good takedown defence lol
Seems Masvidal let his ego and pride go. He seems more chill now and he seems more humble. I hate how he would try to act like too much like Scarface and Miami.
"The UFC didn’t say that…Colby said that" Honestly great interview super excited and personally gotta support the Miami brother Jorge but no matter what just excited for an entertaining week and entertaining fight
I had a good Feeling for him at the Till, Askren and Diaz fight and he won every time. Vs. Usman i had a bad Feeling and he lost but now i have a good feeling again😁 my man, my biggest inspiration will win for sure!!! Greatings from 🇹🇷
