I'd love to hear this guy cover "HCQ Strut"... one of my favorite Django solos of the 400 or so songs of his that I have collected. Doesn't anybody do that one? Another great one that never gets played -- "Ultrafox."
i think that he's absolutely brilliant and sharp. No wrong or filling notes i hear in this. he's one of the better one around i think... I hope to be wrong and to keep the sky limit always a little higher!
@wilrock910 - than you for pointing out Stochelo whom I had never heard of before - he too is brilliant (Pardon me as I am only a piano player). I also still like the Aussie Tommy Emmanuel being from OZ. Regards.
Double bass refers the big string instrument used in orchestras and jazz. Like a cello, but a lot bigger and lower and tuned in fourths because of the long string length. It's played upright, either standing or seated, where as bass guitar, with a lot shorter stringlength is played horisontally. So essentially bassguitar is a guitar and double bass is a bowed instrument. They are just tuned in the same way: E A D G, and have the same role in jazz, where double bass is mostly played pizzicato.
Well upright and double bass are interchangeable, simply put, a double bass sounds out an octave lower than the bass clef. What do you mean by bass and regular bass? As in fretted vs. fretless?
Transcribed some of these licks and have the first one up on my channel as Lick 1 on my 365 GJ licks series (just started today). Have another one coming tomorrow, then it is to Jimmy Rosenberg, than back to Joscho's minor swing.
i hope everyone watchign this knows about the rosenberg trio as wel... also i'm debating on whether to buy a gitane dg250 or the dg300..... can anybody help?
Who's name will live on longer? Many can play the Django style I heard quite a few myself, not saying this guys is not as good but why not try something of his own rather than Django on high octane speed. Even when DJ played at speed he had feel. This guys is technically perfect unlike the original DJ recordings eh!
@eggie62 Naw man he got there just like any other man. What he did would be no different than what you or i could accomplish. In saying that i'm sure on the other hand it wasn't no cake walk! he''s a man that just never stops learning, and playing, and playing, and playing, and playing, and playing... good luck and keep swingin' man!
Right on. Why must everything be about who's better? Is that an American thing? Are we supposed to rabidly root for our favorite artists with the jingoisticfervor of an NFL fan?
a7d9 you obviously have no clue what ur talking about, learn about joschos history before you judge, then go out, buy one of his cds, listen to his originals. he is amazing.
