Old farts like you in the 80s said the 50s were the glory days of baseball and the 80s were full of overpaid prima donnas. Now here you are doing the exact same thing.
Sports is entertainment you don't have to be a Hall of Famer to be entertaining Canseco's proof of that people go to events to be entertained and he delivered
It fascinates me how in '88 Canseco's displays of power and muscular physique made him larger than life; but by the mid '90's his was just another face in a crowded game full of juicers.
Jose Canseco was one of the most intimidating monsters ever to come to bat, I’m a baseball fanatic & 62 years old, Canseco is the best RT handed hitter. I’ve seen, complete player & joy to watch in every game. Shame that a man with his stats and the first man with 40-40 in baseball is not in the HOF.
He took roids you chowda head, without roids Canseco isn't even close to the size he was, your 62 and your praising a cheater? Go praise Reggie Jackson or Mike Schmidt, guys that hit home runs being all natural, these guys were so good they didn't need roids but your hero Josebag Canseco did
In that period, Dave Henderson was arguably the A's most valuable player. He was a team player, a clutch hitter and a good centerfielder. In 1989 he filled the void when Canseco was out, and in the playoffs and World Series he shined. Rickey Henderson and Jose Canseco got more attention and glory, but Dave Henderson came through often.
I remember going to a game at Tiger Stadium in '97 after Canseco returned to the A's. We sat in the left field upper deck, and Jose and Big Mac both took turns putting balls on the LF roof during BP.
Canseco kicks ass. He and McGwire are two of the all-time greats. They both belong in the Hall of Fame. Canseco is a cool dude too. I met him a few years back. He was very gracious to fans and was a total class act. Long live The Bash Brothers. P.S. Barry Larkin and Jeff Bagwell suck.
To this day I don’t think there has been a stronger man play MLB. His swing was pure brute strength and he could generate unbelievable bat speed while swinging an absolute LOG of a bat. He was something to behold.
@@JohnMegaton2062 dude brute strength is when your naturally blessed being a very strong Man, Jim Rice, Reggie Jackson were two MLB players that had brute strength, no PEDs, hell they didn't even lift weights, Josebag on the other hand was jacked on steroid's and lifted weight's on a consistent basis as did the other fraud Mark McGuire
The A's of that era were such a well rounded team . They had the Bash Brothers, pitching, defense and one of the greatest managers in history. Even their owner was top shelf.
Whatever the controversy with Canseco, for me he was the number one guy I would drop anything and everything to watch his at bat. Must see. Rickey Henderson on the bases, Cecil Fielder, Ichiro Suzuki were not far behind "must see Canseco."
Steroids or not! Every single person thinking about criticizing Jose couldn’t do anything he’s done if they took 5 times the steroids he has taken!! This man was talented!
I can remember reading a newspaper article about the 3 homerun game against Toronto. Canseco said in an interview that he called his dad and told him he was 3 for 5 with 3 home runs, he dad responded, well, what happed the other 2 times... Can't believe it is 35 years ago.
Jose is one of the few sports stars from days gone by that has openly admitted to so called “wrong doing” and has completely owned it. Yet the MLB still won’t allow his forgiveness. They’re an absolute disgrace…
They threw a Jose canseco home run ball back. Gtfoh no way hell I’m throwing that back. I was like 8 years old playing little league Jose and mark were like gods to kids back then.
I remember th 72 As dynasty the Catfish Hunters and the Sal Bandos and thr Rolley Fingers. all so well. And even better the late 80s As with the show Canseco and co. put on. Now it's on to 2021 ball. With some unfriggin believable talent and phenoms that are sure to eclipse yesteryear . Its inevitable
I was, they should have all their World Series trophies stripped for that period of time. I was watching the game against San Francisco live on TV when it suddenly went off the air.
NARRATOR: "...THE A'S WERE AS FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND AS ANY TEAM IN BASEBALL ." 0:21 WHILE THIS PARTICULAR VOICE-OVER MATERIAL IS SOUNDING , THE VIEWER IS TREATED TO VIDEO FOOTAGE OF A'S SECOND BASEMAN PULLING HIS FOOT OFF THE "BAG" IN ADVANCE OF TAKING(IN) THE THROW FROM THE MOUND/ PITCHER AND MAKING HIS PIVOT/RELAY THROW ON TO THE FIRST BASEBALL IN HOPES OF COMPLETING WHAT HE THINKS OR, AT LEAST, PRETENDS WILL AMOUNT TO A LEGITIMATE "DOUBLE-PLAY"
Say what you want about the man, steroids yes make ya alittle stronger but doesn’t make eyes stronger to focus on the ball, it may of added what 5-8 ft on a homerun, still great player and my favorite of all time.. deserves to be in the hall of fame, how do you black ball Canseco but give McGuire a coaching job and still loved in baseball!!!??
I wanted to be Jose when I was young. I gained more respect for him after he came forward and admitted steroid use. Personally I think steroids helped the game and it's a shame it's illegal. It was a much better game to watch, than what they are currently producing.
Players still do steroids today the only reason nobody knows is because these players have no talent hitting humerusns otherwise the media would be all over them the media knows that.
