Because of all the pain and the heartbreak that city experienced in its past and the passion they have for their town. Their community and their football. It is a moment where. No matter who you support. No matter how well or how poorly the teams themselves might be doing. You have to respect.

Rival fans can say what they want, but the footballing gods have truly blessed Liverpool. It's just an overall wonderful football club. Good & bad times, they always have this gravitas. They make the neutral fall in love with football over & over again. (Not just Liverpool BTW. There are equally other wonderful clubs out there)
Absolutely convinced that José still wonders "what if" about being offered the Liverpool job in 2004. Not regrets as such, his Chelsea spell is legendary, but he's always spoken highly of the club.

I miss the PL when it had these 2 and Sir Alex in it. There was so much more passion and more mind games. The modern game is so tame and diluted, and the managers just don’t have that same rivalry between them.
Rumour has it, that Jose Mourinho was actually a huge Liverpool supporter back in Portugal many years ago. Don't really know if it was true or not, that is why I started with Rumour has it.
