I'm playing OSRS and doing the quest where you free merlin from the crystal. I clicked on King Arthur the exact same moment Lili said his name at 34:25
5:44 That might be part of it, but not in the way you expect: Minecraft has no single way to be played. It can be from a child's lego set to an engineer's computer design project. Vanilla Minecraft's gameplay experience is also deeply shaped by the community one is involved with. It is not like Terraria in the sense you have a defined path. In my experience it's completely different if you play it by yourself, in the way you want, setting your own objectives and pursuing them with your effort, than if you "join" someone else's game, world, and sytle of play. There are things to do, and people do them in some general order, but you are not directed towards them, instead "a friend told you that if you do something you will find something else" and so on. Nowadays, given how widespread is general game knowledge, vanilla minecraft may have become too tame/easy/trivial in some aspects. But if vanilla terraria is an entire world of possibilities, mods or customs maps are an entire universe. A single one of them could completely transform the game into an RPG, or a puzzle game, or an adventure, a survival challenge, a "factorio 3D", challenging pvp scenarios, etc. Minecraft is so big that it doesn't have a community, it has a galaxy of independent and wildly different communities, of all shapes and sizes. That's why mojang can never hope to "appeal" to "the" minecraft community. Also, Mojang's servers suck, especially when hosting for several players. They are not the recommended way of doing this kind of "Public" servers.
As a sidenote, and knowing Joseph likes factorio: The developers were inspired in Minecraft technical/industrial mods. So the old minecraft industry mods (buildcraft / industrialcraft) are in some sense the fathers of factory games.
@@MrTomyCJ as someone who played during indev and secret Friday updates, I think that the lack of floating island world generation options after all these years is an unforgivable crime.
@@avarisiHoly shit me too, and I agree! Well, actually I started during infdev, but I still saw a lot of the indev sky island stuff and would repeatedly yearn for it as the game made its way through alpha and beta; a part of me thought it must make its return for beta, then after launch when they gave more options for world generation I thought it would be coming back. I was so disappointed, lol.
This cut includes all three streams of Minecraft Q&A's he did back in December 2019. He hasn't done any Minecraft since, but apparently the kids love it. :) -- As for the community, there's still some activity on JADS, so you could ask around if you're interested.
