weird thing i noticed,,, i am a dog person and little baby puppies only days old will dream. i watch the little eyes dart back and forth the little feet will be running i can hear the growl and bark in their sleep and i wonder where are the running ?what are they fighting with? who or what are they barking at ??? they are only days old they have seen none of theses things they have just got their eyes open but yet they experience things that they could have no knowledge of only days old.... they are getting this from someplace else the experience is locked into the dna spirit world of the unknowing the unseeing eye maybe sent by the all knowing all seeing eye,,, i just found this very interesting and wanted to share my thoughts in this thanks for reading it,,,

Disjointed, hacked up, out of context bits and pieces of Campbell"s message? The world needs, for example, the full Moyer / Campbell interviews uncut, But this foumdation is instead hacking Campbell's core messages up into tiny little disjointed hacked up bits and pieces. They are doing that as teasers to commercially monetize Campbel's work. The very nature of Campell's works must remain freely available, intact, in context, and sui- generis on a "giving foot forward" monetization model, which primarily is not the JC Foundation monetization model. Does this greedy foundation have copyrights on these works? Why can't anyone post these works up on IE. You Tube etc. free uncut unedited? For instance the full uncut Campbel / Moyers series. Why is Moyer not acting to counter this outrage? How to obtain these works intact & unedited now like when Campbell was alive without profiteering? That would be Campbell's will. The Campbell Foundation, in the guise of proliferating Campbell's body of work, is instead fragmenting it for commercial monetary motives. So aggravating! Seriously any effort to keep Campbell's work free, and free of being hacked up, and free of being exploited by the world system, then count us in. Metaphorically speaking: God was out for a stroll one day with the devil following along & imitating God. God was carrying something "he" had picked up along the way. The devil runs up and asks. "whatcha got there God?" God replies, "I got the truth." The devil then says," give it to me & I will organize it for you!". JC Foundation you need to stop "money changing on the temple steps".

Interesting but not correct that we are totally unconscious of the shadow. For one thing, the easiest way to get to know your shadow is to investigate and develop your opposite personality traits.

No wonder we are confused with teachers who teach what they think, imagining they know.

I had the distinct honor and pleasure to meet him and listen to him speak to about 7 or 8 young people while I was in High School. That meeting began my career as a storyteller.

Campbell was a giant; literally one of the most interesting and erudite people in my opinion who ever lived. I wish I could've met him or heard him lecture. Profoundly insightful...

I ordered The Power Of Myth in 1991 and was almost immediately captivated. Resonates now more than ever.

As a very young man, trying to find my way in the world, he blew my world view wide open and contributed significantly to a lifetime of passionate discovery. Though I never met him, he was like a beloved uncle or a father figure. Great spirit.

RIP .. Many years ago , he was the first person , and maybe the only person , I ever listened to , that could talk about god and actually make sense.

What a remarkable mind Joseph Campbell had, and the ability to communicate as he does on complex subjects using simple language. The dream the woman had of owls flying out of a cave and Campbell's interpretation, superb.

Jung revealed the distinguishing skill that catapulted Nietzsche into the league of Plato beyond perhaps even Schopenhauer, and Emerson. Nietzsche was highly trained as a classical philologist immersed in the original sources of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew. Hence, Nietzsche gained a profound knowledge of the greatest minds of antiquity and could read the source material in a direct first-hand way and not rely on second-hand accounts. Imagine being able to understand all the nuances of source material from the Bible in Hebrew or Plato in Greek to appreciate the nuances and meanings of texts directly rather than accept secondhand some other scholars' interpretation of the passage. Nietzsche's devastating critique of the intellectual edifice of the times originated because he knew how the professors of the time masked the truth to push an agenda, protect an intellectual moat, or just hide the truth from themselves or others for either lack of courage, intellectual depth, or other sinister reasons. Nietzsche lived and breathed for the truth. Just as a world-class poker player has to live, breathe, and sleep poker to be a world champion, a philosopher on the Olympian level of Nietzsche has to breathe the mountain air of truth every day in a way not possible for a man involved in a daily business or practice such as Jung. Sure, the business can keep the man "grounded", but to reach Nietzsche's Olympian level and full spectrum dominance philosophical level you need the foundational basics of classical philology combined with a passion and instinct for truth based on an actual reading of ancient wisdom in the original. As German philosopher Schopenhauer observed, unless a man can read Latin and Greek in the original, there will always be a hole in the scholar's education that undermines the depth of his intellectual thought. This observation is a bitter pill for us all in a vapid age of mass media and hollow men. Nietzsche was just such an intellectual tour de force that we will probably never be able to appreciate his greatness or sublime gifts to humanity. Greek and Latin are not emphasized in today's propaganda mills of liberal arts universities or even at the time of Jung when studying Latin and Greek required hard work most were not willing to endure. The German professor and later "laughing lion of the ages" was a sublime gift to humanity. In fact, Nietzsche's Navy Seal-like attack on the soft, descendent Western philosophers and clergy of the time came with devastating force and mountain lightning speed. Ultimately though, Nietzsche's attack came out of a deep love for man and his no-limit potential. Once the blinders came off and courageous, disciplined men were made aware of what the actual classical and Biblical texts meant free of some political or mercenary agenda, Nietzsche allows us all to share in the love for the search for truth. In this sense, Nietzsche, in exposing the agendas of many "translations" and university moat protecting "degrees" brings us all back to ourselves and our higher man potential once we breathe the mountain air of truth, and discover how the truth makes us all free from the agendas and deception of the establishment.

I look forward to the re-release of "Transformations of Myth Through Time" in full. Those were wonderful lectures, and need to be made available again, in their original presentation.

I have a reoccurring “vision” in meditation. Faces dating back to times unknown. No I do not recognize any of them, but understand they are me. I am now a 64 female, 90% of those faces are males...once the faces go away, I see marching men with weapons and very non military uniforms of sorts, young men consumed with fear. This is excellent. However symbols have a dual aspect and they are not just related to the past. Sometimes we do not fully understand the meaning and the meaning only comes later. The greater meaning of events in any book are that way as we read it. Owls may symbolize what is said here, but symbols are not always so self-referential only. Sometimes they also predict the general pattern of humanity in the universe. And the owl has more symbolic meaning than that. The human way of regarding symbols is also just a symbol of something greater in its patterns.

Campbell is one of the greatest lecturers ever.

I have so much respect for Joseph Campbell, so it makes me sad to listen to him talk about Carl Jung, because at the time this video was created all the flaws, and ultimately the racism in Jung's conclusions were not known as they are now. Joseph Campbell's greatest quality was his understanding to respect all people and all beliefs equally. The hero's journey was developed by Campbell's lifetime work to find the commonalities within all religious cultures. He did not divide them into primitive and modern, nor does Campbell share the same spiritual beliefs as Jung, who viewed White Christians as modern and everyone else as primitive. Joseph Campbell was a very wise compassionate man. Jung was a smart researcher who sympathized with nazis. I thought it was worth mentioning. I love Campbell, but Jung was not a good person.

How does one change the personal unconscious?

I love the fact that JC refused to play along with academia and pursue a PhD which he felt would limit his passions and knowledge. Exactly why I decided to skip the PhD

I have one dream that recurs ocassionally.. It feels like a night terror. In similar fashion to her dream, I am standing in a movie theater, watching a horror movie.. I feel something happen and I am transported into this movie called "The Rooms"... Firstly, there is usually a man who suffers facial trauma (I have a hard time with it). Secondly I come to a long, dark hallway with a figure at the end of it... It is tall, lanky, has impossibly long arms, no eyes, yellow sharp teeth and a scream that could scare the bejesus out of anybody.. And it runs right for me, screaming like a banshee. Any attempt to escape the theater lands be back to the beginning of the room I am in. If I wake up (Which I do during the hallway scene) then I wake up terrified. But if I go back to sleep *The dream continues where I left off.* There are several rooms, all of which contain darkness or the things I fear the most. Open, deep water, heights, long hallways, abandonment, and I haven't gotten to see what is in the other rooms, but they may be fears I repress... It is a miserable, dread induced fear that I'll have to tackle these rooms one by miserable on to complete the movie... I have no idea what is on the other side.

Would it matter if the young lady had no personal knowledge of Athene or mythology for Campbell’s interpretation to be relevant?

Human behavior is simply an act of compensation. If one follows the compensatory path to it's beginning, one will discover either a deficiency, an oversaturation or any combination of both, in the endocrine system and or the brain's neurotransmitter balance. Every human is in a constant state of seeking homeostasis (homeostasis being the debatable word here). From there, it gets very complicated.

I don't know what kind of a school you think you're running, but you guys are all thru my phone, and as an adult I don't think you have the right to just mess with someone's brain because you have permission from the state or the president.

What a genius of a man

the ego abhors not knowing thus avoids facing this reality of individual unconsciousness surrendering to our ignorance is a blessing to our consciousness and thus our ego can relax in the safety of not knowing although when more awareness coming forth scares the base reality of the ego... thus shock occurs and an aspect of shock includes the anger of the unexpected ; that is the realization of more being revealed as a threat to our general human understanding of our consciousness .... especially when physical and emotional trauma is involved , since our mind will reel from this extreme devastation that has been thrust upon us .... making us brutally aware of our feelings of hatred and our desire for retaliation ( our own cruelty ) and our fear of continued abuse which shocks our psyche since feeling devalued and being a victim of such disregard is enormously shocking ... our safety is destroyed and we wish to trust in life

The "shocks" he is talking about- are they trauma? Trauma definition to me means what happens inside of us as a result of what happens to us

I'm not sure there is a one to one correspondence of Freud's idea of the unconscious to Jung idea of the shadow -- unless the term has evolved into something little bit different?

growing years are very crucial and young mind is easily swayed persuaded even for things which they know are harmful as you grow older and are more self aware your capability to think for yourself.. i do not put much value in dreams, just disturbed sleeping minds electromagnetic waves interspersed with thoughts
