I purchased this J Dixon #6 pricking iron from a lady who's grandfather apparently had it in his shed for the last 20 years. She told me that he had worked for Tanner Krolle before he retired.
Apart from surface rust and some light pitting, it appears to have seen little use. The prongs didn't show signs of wear and the head had no mushrooming.
This isn't a how-to video, so I haven't included any info on techniques or tools. This is simply a fun video showing an old tool being bought back to work again.

Philip, this pricking iron is not only restored. You brought it totally back to life. A new one couldn‘t look better. Congratulations to your Dixon‘s!

I think these things make me regret investing in diamond irons. Beautiful stitching!

Hi Phillip, great video! What brand of thread did you use for the sample stitch at the end of the video?

Any advice as to where to look for vintage leatherworking tools? I'm a woodworker, and old WW tools are abundant. When I look on eBay for vintage pricking irons and such there seems to be few if any
