Joseph, the favored son of Jacob, was envied by his brothers due to his dreams of dominance and their father's favoritism. One day, while tending flocks far from home, his brothers plotted to kill him. Instead, they threw him into a pit, later selling him to Ishmaelite traders who took him to Egypt. In Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Despite being falsely accused by Potiphar's wife and imprisoned, Joseph maintained his faith. In prison, he interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker, which came true. Two years later, Pharaoh had troubling dreams that no one could interpret. Recalled by the cupbearer, Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dreams, predicting seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Impressed, Pharaoh appointed Joseph as second-in-command over Egypt, tasking him with storing surplus grain. When famine struck, Joseph's brothers came to Egypt seeking food. Joseph tested them, eventually revealing his identity and forgiving them. He invited his entire family to live in Egypt, providing for them during the remaining years of famine. Thus, Joseph's journey from the pit to the palace demonstrated God's providence and the fulfillment of his dreams.
Verse 1:
Joseph had a coat of many colors bright,
His brothers saw it and felt the jealous bite,
They sold him off to be a slave one day,
But God had a plan, in Egypt he'd stay.

In Egypt, Joseph worked so hard and true,
But then he was jailed, oh what could he do?
