The first time I heard Lenny Breau do those artificial cascading harmonics on an album it was like finding the key to the universe. As far as I knew at the time, you played a harmonic here or there for an effect, but hearing him and Chet using them for complete melodies blew me away. For me, it was one of those breakthrough moments we all have as guitarists where we realize there is so much more we can do in our own playing. Thanks for the quick little stroll down memory lane Norm and Josh ✌️

Liberio Escriba Teles are a love or hate kind of guitar. A lot of folks get scared of them because they pick them up, dime the volume and tone knobs and start banging away. More than any other guitar, a Tele requires you to use the knobs to dial in the tone. Next time you play one, run the volume knob around 7 or 8 and start with the tone knob in about 5. This will get rid of that terrifying, shrill, ice pick tone they’re capable of producing. The variety of tones you can get by just using the knobs is why I (and a ton of other guys) love them. In my opinion, they make you a better player because they don’t hide mistakes as much other guitars tend to do, so you learn to rely on your hands to produce the tone you want. Almost every person I’ve met that said they hated Teles changed their minds once I told them how to “dial them in” so to speak. Once you learn how to play them and find the right one you’ll be hooked. The most versatile guitar out there and it’s bulletproof to boot. No moving parts so it stays in tune better, intonation does go in and out once it’s set and because of the fixed bridge, bends are extremely precise. Don’t give up on them until you try one with the volume and tone rolled off some. From there you can start to dial in “your sound.” P.S.- If you can’t tell by now, I’m a diehard Tele guy 😂

@@Scratch_Monsters_Golf I know exactly what you are talking about & trust me, man; nobody messes with the knobs more than myself. I borrow my brother's tele more than I'm allowed, but it's precisely why I know is not my kind of fender. No matter what I roll, there isn't a room for me. Not that I think they're bad guitars, but I guess strats are more my thing.

I’m with you I’ve owned a few and have a ‘76 now. Don’t really LOVE it but I know if I sell it I’ll just get another one. When you think of all the great music, in every genre, made on one you think man I have to have one.

Best part about teles: they have everything, ALL the frequencies on display Worst part about teles: they have everything...lol What I mean by that is, you really have to slow down with them and finesse the guitar. People say they have too much treble or are spikey, thin, etc but that’s usually because they are approaching it like a less dynamic guitar. If you check out someone like Allen Hinds, he’ll play an esquire (just a bridge pickup) with tone and volume on max and he’ll achieve every sound you can imagine but that’s because he’s using his hands, picking techniques, etc. If you were to just hit it, you’d be blasted with all that treble, mid and bass...so they’re great to practice you’re technique and voice on

Wesley alan all good my friend. I was also giving an ode to how well this guy was playing. I can play harmonica at any fret but I certainly can’t do that tommy Emmanuel waterfall trick. It’s so impressive and difficult though I’ve never spent time practicing it.
