Paul you're the type of owner I chose to not be. My team doesn't work for me. They work with me and we work together. Anytime I've hired anyone I've never said "come work for me" or anything similar. Just starting a relationship with an employee from the very start in the interview stage goes a long ways and having your team know the owner works with them versus them feeling like they work for someone will often breathe resentment in a lot of people.

Ive worked in shops for guys like that, way more common than most would think. Last one I literally walked out on no notice, took my tools and never called again. Better than punching them in the face.

What? Owner says two hour lunch breaks are ending, and telling an employee the how the owner spends company money is none of the employee’s business is “toxic”?

@@rodobrien3488 , in "TV land" Josh and Daren quit, however the truth of the matter is that Mark and the show's producers thought the show was losing its audience, and firing Josh and Daren was the only recourse they had. Local gossip had it that Josh, who was Mark's son in law at the time( Alyssa 's husband) was having an affair with former employee Holley, fueling Mark's decision to fire him. Daren told a Eugene radio station that he had a "financial investment " in Mark's business, and therefore had an "obligation" to work in the shop. Of course all the above is speculation, but if you look at how the show first started out, the turmoil, arguing and fighting.., all probably scripted, then watched Mark's anger flare up during later episodes-unscripted, then it doesn't take many brain cells to figure out the demise of Josh and Daren.

Agree...not funny. Huge ego narcissism nobody wants to work for someone like that That cranking down on his workers crap just pisses people off. Treat them right and people want to do good work. Hes not going to find top quality people for what those kind of jobs pay.
