Thank you, sir! The very first time I ever heard Josh Groban sing, was when my youngest daughter was in high school, and she introduced THIS song to me. After that, we both started trying to find his music everywhere. We both still love to listen to this song, especially...as well as all the others we've heard since then.
Have you seen him guest starring on "Ally McBeal?" That was my first introduction to him. He blew me away, and I was so annoyed I didn't find out his name or anything. Then a couple weeks later, my boss asked me to go pick up a CD for her by an artist named Josh Groban, that she'd seen on a PBS show. I went and got it, and realized it was him! I was so thrilled! And he was still a teenager! So amazing,

This tribute was so sweet and moving. What a beautiful relationship that she had with her father. I have always gone to Josh for solace when I just needed a familiar friend to cry with. Richard sounds like he was a wonderful man. I'm sure his daughter loved that you featured this in his honor. ❤
I do. And it's interesting you say that. I saw Josh Groban in concert shortly after my first husband left (it was a good thing, but still emotional) and got his autograph after, and I told him exactly that-that his music has helped me through some really tough times. He replied "Yeah, music can do that." It's so true, when I'm feeling down, I'll listen to Josh or Voiceplay, and it always helps.
@@Pammie1221 He really is. At the second concert I saw him in, it was in my hometown (I'd prefer not to name it) a couple years back, he was speaking, and spoke a couple minor swear words. A bit later he noticed some very young kids in the front row, and said to them "Uncle Joshy used a couple bad words, don't do that!" It was adorable. However, what really shocked me was it was an outdoor VERY expensive venue, and somebody had probably spent four digits on front row tickets for kids who weren't even tall enough to see the stage! My hometown has become extremely pretentious. It's not the same place I grew up in.
@@DravenGal Such a sweet guy. I can relate to changing towns. Mine used to be so unique and charming, but now so many people have "discovered" it like a swarm of locusts and gentrified everything. The locals can't even afford to live here anymore.
@@Pammie1221 Exactly! And they have no business loyalty. They raise the rent to astronomical rates so much that businesses that were there for numerous decades had to close, so someone richer can move in! I mean, if the rent is so high a friggin Nordstrom's can't afford it... And as for people I moved out of that town in 2000, because I had to move out of the house I was in, and I spent over a year trying to find a place that would let me keep my dog, and I couldn't find a room-JUST a room, mind you-for less than $1000 a month! And that was almost 24 years ago!
Listening to Josh sing this song always brings me to tears! Such an amazing voice! And thank you for your tribute to Michael J. Fox, another incredible icon! They are true gifts to the world!

And yes, this was the father-daughter dance song at my first (practice) wedding. Although the marriage wasn't very good, I nonetheless am glad I had it, because it gave me Dad walking me down the aisle, and the dance. He passed a few years later. However, he did get to meet my current husband, so I'm glad about that. Thanks again!
I am so sorry for your loss but glad you have those beautiful memories to carry in your heart and friends like this beautiful man to show you much love. I lost my dad back in 1974 but fortunately had a terrific father-in-law until 2007 ❤
My sister and I are big fans of Josh's but this is my very favorite, can't hear this without it touching my heart. Jane, as the lucky daughter of a wonderful loving father my heart is with you today. An inspirational song by an inspirational voice. Josh Groban is one of the universe's most beautiful voices, and his performances of "You Raise Me Up" have become the iconic standard. Your friend is lucky to have your voice through which to commemorate her father. There is such a bond between a father and daughter, as well I know! This is absolutely my favorite version of this. It's so weird to see how young Josh was when he sang this! I always forget he started his career as a teen. My husband and I saw him in concert a couple years ago. He's come so far! Oh, and speaking of Peter Hollens (don't miss the Epic Hand-Washing Parody, and thanks Dad, for teaching me how to wash my hands as a kid!), he does an amazing A Cappella version of this song. My second favorite version.
Love Josh Groban and all of his songs. You should listen to him sing 'The Prayer' with Celine Dion, 'You're Still You', 'To Where You Are' and 'I Believe That When I Fall In Love' to name a few. You should definitely listen to his 'O Holy Night' as it is the best version I have ever heard and that is coming from an aetheist who does not like hymns.
No, I didn't kniw ge was doing Sweeney Todd! That's awesome. I expect him to someday play Raoul, and possibly even The Phantom! As I recall, years back, I was watching a video about him, off Josh's website I think. So someone sent a recording of Josh to David Foster (pretty sure it was him, but I may have the name wrong). Part of the video was an interview with Selene about what happened. Somehow David knew Selene, so when Andre Boccelli was sick, David told her he had a replacement. So he comes walking in with this slender, slight, teenage boy, and there were all these murmurs like "This kid is standing in for Andre? Is this a joke?" Then Selene started off the duet they were doing, "The Prayer." Selene recounts how when it came to Josh's part and he started singing EVERBODY stopped what they were doing, including the musicians, and just stared! She said they were all thinking "Is that voice really coming from this skinny kid?" I love that story, wish I could've seen their faces! My first experience with Josh was seeing him on Ally McBeal, which I talk about in another comment thread. He's a treasure, and I was so glad I had Dad walking me down the aisle, and that father-daughter dance at my first wedding. My first marriage was not good, but I don't regret it, because I had those moments. Dad died a few years later.
He was great recently as Sweeney Todd! Did you know Celine Dion discovered him when the person she was supposed to sing with had to cancel last minute? 1 in a million chance!
