My 6 year old son idolizes Matt Holliday, and after watching this video, I'm glad he does. Got a ton of info listening to his batting approach, but what stood out most for me was him saying that coaches need to coach for the sake of the kids. The reason I got into coaching was to share my love of baseball with other kids because the sport brought, and still brings me so much joy in my life. Holliday is a class act and he's gonna make a hell of a coach one day.

That's awesome on both parts! Really cool to see this kind of in depth discussion from a truly gifted athlete. And even cooler is the kind of impact a good coach on EVERY level really does matter. I didn't play beyond little league, but I ABSOLUTELY remember the coaches that believed in me and knew how to actually get the most out of me instead of just pushing a fundamental-based agenda. That's important, but the focus should be on the kid playing and learning.
I am here because my daughter is 10. She obviously wants to be a better hitter and who else to mimic a great hitter but Matt. She doesn't know who Matt is but she knows who his son is. That is good enough for me. I grew up on Charley Lau books so hopefully this is her extension of the Lau theory.
It’s no surprise with pedigree like this that Jackson Holliday is a rock star at 19 years old … he will be on the majors in 2024 … hopefully Mike Elias doesn’t play the service time game with this young man 🙄 #orioles
