Mike Nesmith relates a wonderful anecdote in "Infinite Tuesday" about the young woman who, responding to the silence that followed the first screening of "Repo Man" for the studio execs, stood up and shouted, "What is wrong with you people?! This is the GREATEST THING EVER!!"

I can't think of another film that has a cult following of the TV edit. The "melonfarmer" edit is so popular it's on the Criterion release.

While I include such movies as "Lawrence of Arabia", "The Godfather", "2001", and "No Country For Old Men" as amongst the greatest ever, "Repo Man" remains my all-time favorite.

I vividly remember ads for Repo Man alongside ad for Blade Runner in the subways on my way to school. Did they come out at the same time? I have always associated the two together since they're both about dystopian futures.

Great show. I watched it a lot as a teenager. I have to disagree that the plot is inconsequential. Maybe Josh Olsen thinks it's random and incoherent. It's true it always felt like there were missing scenes, like the Harry Dean Stanton Character and Otto become close over time that isn't really shown. The 'clues' are there to connect it. The viewer has to supply the missing scenes in their imagination. You have to imagine that they work together for a long time and he becomes a father figure to Otto. Your imagination has to supply the coherence.
