OU will probably go around 4-4, realistically in year 1. Huge Sooner fan. I don’t favor us at LSU. Bama should be a tough one at home. At Mizzou will mean a lot to the tigers. I think there’s plenty of other ones that could be dropped (Texas, at ole Miss, at Auburn, Tennessee at home). The only game I feel “comfortable” with is South Carolina at home.

Here's why people say it. It's because the talent disparity us not all that different between SEC schools (unless your Vandy). In the Big12 outside of OU and Texas you you might get 1 team in the top 25 in terms of incoming talent. A top 25 class would be the best class ever at places like KSt, Iowa St, Kansas, Baylor, TCU etc. In the SEC a top 25 class nationally is like #12 in the SEC.

Anyone thinking that Texas and Oklahoma will struggle in the SEC is making a terrible bet, especially now that Texas appears to have wandered out of their wilderness period. They are top 10 historical programs with massive passionate fan bases and rivers of cash flowing through, as long as they have competent coaches they will be anywhere from good to great. Will they win all the championships like it felt they did in the Big 12? Probably not, but now you won't have to win conference every year to be playoff caliber.

For years some of Texas’ best high school talent left Texas to go play for a Bama, Florida, Georgia or LSU in the SEC because they wanted to play in the SEC. Now, that OU and Texas are joining the SEC, I think it helps Texas keep more of their HS talent in the state while getting more out of state kids interested in an OU and Texas. So I think it helps both OU and Texas who already recruit at a high level improve recruiting even more. OU and Texas belong for sure in the SEC. OU had a subpar year this year but as a Texas fan, I know they’ll be right in the hunt challenging the best of the SEC for conference championships soon.
@floridapmi
@floridapmi 7 месяцев назад
You are right, that is the WHOLE reason Texas and OU jumped to the SEC. It wasn't about money, hell Texas has enough money to buy the SEC schools (compare the endowments, Texas is 68 billion to Alabama's ONE billion dollars). It was about them losing the recruiting battle to the Aggies and the out of state schools taking the prime talent elsewhere.

OU had 2 bad games on the road they lost by a score in year 2 of a total roster and philosophy overall and are the only team that has beat Texas so far i ain't worried we have beat Bama , Auburn and Tennessee twice and lost to Georgia in OT cuz Riley is a garbage coach that cant manage a game OU/Texas will be fine lol its the ole miss /missou/ AnMs of the SEC that should be worried cuz they just fell a rung
@ToddRobinson13
@ToddRobinson13 7 месяцев назад
😂😂😂 Texas and OU didn't leave the Big12 because they wanted recuits who were going to the SEC. They left after realizing that they had sucked all the money they could from the Big12, and it was no longer stacked in their favor. If they're going to have to share equal revenue, then they might as well do it for more money in the best college football conference.
@floridapmi
@floridapmi 7 месяцев назад
@@ToddRobinson13 Again, Texas doesn't need the money, they have more money than God! All they care about is winning championships and when Herman was there he went to the AD's and told them he couldn't stay with the Aggies in the recruiting war because of their affiliation to the SEC. That's what started the ball rolling.

OU fan here, and i agree we won't be back of the bus, I agree there will be an adjustment period as we get used to competitive competition on a more weekly basis. Something I think that isn't getting addressed is that the rest of the SEC will actually begin playing tougher schedules, too. How many years has Ga and AL had easier schedules with really only 1, maybe 2 tough games and 4 cupcake OOC. I mean, has GA even played AL more than once in regular season in 10 years? No more, the rotation for all schools will be tougher it will be fun. To me, it's more like early 2000 big 12 competition and I am here for it!

The fact that the addition of Texas and OU is creating a balanced SEC schedule year and year out alone makes the SEC better. It's a good bet an SEC champion will no longer be undefeated, could have 2 losses most likely on a regular basis. Recruiting has always been good for Texas and OU, but now they are both in the SEC, it just got better. But there are genuinely MILLIONS of SEC fans, that think the only thing holding them back, is their schedule, and if their team played in any other conference, they would go 100-0. The reality is this: With Texas and OU coming in, it eliminates the two Divisions (West and East) SO THAT NOW, every current SEC Team's schedule is more difficult. UGA will have a more difficult schedule as will Bama. Look at Florida's schedule - they go from having a relative easy schedule in The East to now having a very difficult slate of Games. Every SEC Team today will have a much more difficult schedule, not to mention that their Away Schedule just got more difficult. People dont understand when Oklahoma comes into town, they'll officially have the 2nd most national championships behind Bama in the SEC, and its not really close. And Texas adds a name very few can match. Youre new top group in the SEC is Bama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas and LSU in no specific order. You can brag about your conference all you want but the majority of the SEC doesn't even touch the greatness of OU and Texas. Y'all think OU and Texas need to watch out for even the smalleat of SEC programs when the truth is you need to watch out for them. The only true blue blood the SEC has is BAMA and look how good that conference is. Now you have 2 more blue bloods coming in and theyre taking one of the big boys spots. Then you'll realize just who the SEC added.

OU has had one title in the last 40 years. That's hardly a relevant stat point to make your argument off of. Will both teams be fine, of course they will, but OU isn't going to be really good because they "have the second most titles next to Bama" when the vast majority of those titles came more than half a century ago.............

As a Sooner fan I refuse to have any expectations. Next year’s schedule looks like a meat grinder for OU. Still yet I am excited to see what plays out. I have a feeling Coach Heupel knows a thing or two about BV and it will be evident. Each and every week will be a challenge next season. It will be discernible just exactly where we stand nat the end of next season. Now Texas….. That team will not surprise me at all over the remainder of this season. They’re nothing short of mean ass kickers right now. Alabama knows it too.

So..........the last time Texas played Georgia (in 2019), Bevo scared their little dog after which GA got pounded. Texas hold the historical lead over Georgia 4-0-1. The last time Texas played Alabama, the tide got wrecked in their own house by 10. Texas holds the historical lead overall with Alabama 8-1-2. Both of the 2 losses came after the QB's for Texas were hurt and left the games. I get that SEC homers can't grasp this but seriously Texas is NOT worried about playing the ONLY two good teams in the SEC. \,,/ Hook'em \,,/

@floridapmi I love a debate 😊 Both teams are great and can compete with anyone. They've been the only bullies on the block for a few decades. Now, they're no longer the bullies. Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Kentucky, and a few others are bad. However, you go down the line hat for hat, the SEC's #3, #4, #5, #6, and #7 teams are better than what Texas and Oklahoma are accustomed to playing in the BIG12. Everyone's misjudging this transition. It's not which single SEC team on the schedule are they most unequipped for. They're equipped for all of them actually. On the contrary, it's the war of attrition they'll need to prepare for. It's not who's going to get them first. It's how long can they maintain it until they empty their clips and realize there's still more games left to play. The transition is going to be about depth and pacing. You can sleepwalk 8 weeks out of the year in the Big 12 and still leave with a win. Their capacity to manage their load is what they need to be training for, not who's going to be their first conference opponent loss.

I've never understood how people can be so devoted to a conference. A conference. Teams? Sure. But, a conference? They don't even bother with any team outside of their little conference bubble. I know one SEC guy that refers to Ohio State as Ohio. He doesn't do it as an insult, but because he doesn't know any better....or care. He honestly believes a 6-6, 7-5 SEC team should be in the playoffs over a one loss or undefeated champions from other conferences. He's hardly the only one. It's ridiculous.

Die hard Longhorn fan here. Look, we get it. Texas & Oklahoma coming to the SEC is going to cause some fan bases to want to lash out more. Like Josh said. There are teams in the SEC now who don't compete at the highest level each year for a variety of reasons. They will chant SEC and they're right. The SEC is, and has always been the best NCAAF conference hands down bar none. But, to make the assertion that nobody else from any other conference can come in and compete at the top is ludicrous. And, I see a lot of they'll be at the top right behind Georgia and Alabama. That's a bit presumptious as well. I'm not saying we will beat them every time, but they're not gonna come in and drop a number on us. And they will lose their share to us. Face reality, Texas is on a rocket trajectory upwards right now, and I can guarantee you Oklahoma will be soon enough. We are happy to finally be rid of the dumpster fire that is/was the Big 12. Yeah I agree that both Texas and OU will undoubtedly have a lot of success in the SEC. The only adjustment that they have to make that I think is worth talking about is the quantity of quality opponents that you have to play back to back some seasons. If your looking down a stretch where you have to play any mix of bama, Georgia, lsu, Tennessee, ole miss, even auburn or Florida can show up and surprise you So yeah I think they can go toe to toe with any team individually, but on the season as a whole might be a little different than they’re used to
@thomasword9473

I agree partly because that may only apply to the veteran players that have a routine with the Big 12. Outside of them.. there are a lot of new kids and they’re the same as the SEC players, ya know? Like they don’t have Big 12 expectations. All these players that aren’t vets don’t have any expectations at all. So they’ll all have the same adjustments to make to physical and consistent play outside of high school. It’ll all wash out with the vets within a year or two. This isn’t the NFL where you have guys for 10-15 years.

The SEC forgets that the state of Texas has 25 million people in it, 4 major metro areas and every small town that treats football as religious as Sunday church. No other state in the region except Florida has that type of resource available. Every other team has to fight for the best players throughout the region. Texas just has to recruit in Texas.

@masterjedifunkolobstah4836 7 месяцев назад
I have to disagree in part with you. For example, half of Texas' 2024 recruiting class is from outside the state of Texas. Sark and his staff are at the point in recruiting where they can be very selective on who becomes a member of this program. They don't have to settle on the best football players in Texas when they can find and recruit players in CA, AZ, LA, FL, and other states that are a better fit for the team. There will be years where the talent level at certain positions coming out of Texas high school programs aren't as good in other states. This recruiting cycle was a good example.
