What big games has he won? His biggest wins are 2019 against michigan and 2020 playoffs against Clemson just to get throttled by bama. Both were with meyers' players. His biggest win since was what against ND last year by 1 against 10 players? He stepped into a 13 win program with as much talent as anyone, and has repeatedly failed to get it done. I'm not sure I understand the blind faith most in columbus seem to have for him. With the team he has this year, anything short of beating michigan and a deep run in the playoffs, and they should probably be looking for his replacement.
@@scottd1903 he's only been a HC for 5 seasons, he's still developing.. Ryan Day is the reason Justin Fields went to Ohio State.. 2019 Buckeyes with Urban would've been Tate Martell at QB and no Jeff Hafley as DC.. Day has done a lot of great, he just currently has a Michigan problem that he needs to solve..
@@scottd1903 seriously everyone forgets he had zero HC experience at any level. You’re gonna have some growing pains. When you consider that he’s been phenomenal. He’s a damn good head coach. Never laid an egg like Meyer teams seemed to once a year.
Everyone forgets this is his first head coaching job and he had to do it on the biggest stage. He didn’t get to coach at a school outside the spotlight and make mistake and develop like most coaches.
Facts… let’s just say we win Ryan has built this team to where it shouldn’t take a huge fall next year even with all the talent leaving we have a lot of sophomores and juniors waiting in line
Exactly lol. Also the way he was a dick to the person on twitter. He shouldn't have read the question out loud on his show if he was just going to say "asked and answered, move on"
I’m a huge Buckeye from Columbus and I feel Ryan has done a great job 😎And I feel him giving up not only play calling but other things on his plate will really free him up for more important stuff 😊
For a guy that’s been whacking people over the head with a newspaper whenever “you are what your record says you are” comes up, Pate sure does love stroking that Ohio state W/L record.
Well Ohio State has been power rated by FEI, SP+, and Vegas as a Top 4 team every single year since Ryan Day has been Head Coach. So if you don't like the W/L you can go off of the analytics instead.
One of the biggest most passionate fan bases and his content views being a part of his revenue. Why not post numerous times about Ohio State it will bring the haters too.
They better win something big this year, they have a payroll bigger than the Cleveland Indians for christ sake. If they don't at least win the B1G championship. The season should be viewed as a failure
UGA gained 8 yards per play on offense. OSU couldn’t have played worse on defense and they almost won. SEC media loves the “Georgia played sloppy and still win” narrative
Can’t lie I was someone calling for his head in 22. I realize he’s extremely close. A single play here and there is where he’s at from a national title. He’s just got a bigger spot light on himself because of what Ohio State is.
UM needs to be thanking god for Covid. Had they lost in 2020 Harbaugh would have been run out of town and that team was hot garbage, yet somehow they turned it around...
I am sure someone got COVID up north. I am equally sure they could have played, but ducked to avoid getting destroyed. IIRC, OSU beat Clemson in the CFP semi and played in the championship that post-season.
Not true. They went 2-4 that year, and nobody thought they would've beaten ohio had they played. Lots/most were calling for him to be fired. But thankfully, there were those among the decision makers that remembered the rich rod/Brady hoke era and gave him another shot, but with a huge pay cut.
@jasonodonnell5177 do u ohio fans actually believe they just ducked the ohio game only? They only played 6 games that year and shut down the season weeks before the ohio game. Yet, u guys act like they played a full season and canceled the week of the game. I guess, it's the last positive thing your program has to talk about other than all of your offseason on paper championships u win every year.
So Blowhio State "ducked" Illinois in 2020 then right? They had to change the rules to get three precious suckeyes into the b10 chip and the playoffs lmao
Silly and leading question. It is not just the loss to Michigan. You have been able to see the poor play on both sides of the line of scrimmage, but especially on the O line for the past few years. Insisting on zone blocking schemes that always seem to fail at least one position on running plays have stood out for as far back as I can remember in the Day era.
Well said and done Josh. --- As a 55 + year Buckeye Fan - I really like Ryan Day and what he has done - so far - as the HC @ T - OSU - OVERALL. --- In my personal opinion - he is evolving nicely. Given the real world obstacles he has had to face and overcome ? Just can't realistically see anybody else they possibly can get to assure a better job than he has done. > Are you kidding me (?) that you will actually fire the HC with the best winning % in the Nation ? %&^@*#!& - - - It's absurd to in my view - as much as I detest the loses to TTUN -- I also recognize 2 of those were '''suspect''' - and rules providing the illegal "competitive advantage" were broken !!! If the NCAA does their job correctly - at least 2 of those will be vacated. Harbaugh lost 5 in a row & would have a 6th - if not for covid ? And everyone sees him as a 'great coach' ! Saban was a HC for 17 years before he won his 1st National Championship @ 57 years old. Day is 44 ? --- He is - "evolving nicely" - I repeat ! His coaching changes have been terrific. Recruiting is as good as it's ever been. He obviously has NIL figured out ? Portal use has been spot on. The players admire respect and play hard for him. - - - In my opinion -- he's a keeper !!!
My biggest fear as an ND fan is we have a great season, OSU doesnt rise to the standard and Day gets fired just for OSU to take Marcus Freeman since his favorite school is OSU
Which fans of how many teams would be willing to trade their coaching staff for Ryan Day and his staff? Outside of maybe 5 teams, every other fan would be raising their hands. You know it. I know it. Josh knows it.
sometimes i don't think people realize how hard it is to RUN THE TABLE! winning 12 of 12 is not easy! winning 11 of 12 is not easy. there are very few teams that do that on an annual basis.
I like the show and all, but its always interesting how much slack Josh cuts for coaches while questioning the viewer. Ryan Day has made plenty of bad calls over the years, its not a sin to question his ability. But those bad calls also dont mean he wont prove us wrong. Finding the middle ground is pretty important.
Everyone always points to Day's record, but his record outside of Michigan is absolutely meaningless. The BigTen is a brutal 5 on the Sub-Vandy Conference Index- IOW going into 2024 there are FIVE programs with less talent than Vanderbilt per the 247 talent composite. It's funny how much crap everyone used to give the SEC East for containing ONE Vandy, when the Big Ten has FIVE Sub-Vandys going into this season: 50 Vanderbilt 51 Maryland 55 Northwestern 57 Indiana 59 Rutgers 63 Illinois This is the total by major conference: ACC: 5 Big12: 8 Big10: 5 SEC: 0 Net: 18 Day's record outside of Michigan and the postseason SHOULD be exceptional, because that is pathetic.
Stop with the “this is his last chance”. Day is building a program and the recruiting is top notch. He did that. When the system kicks in, the big wins will come, the culture will take off. Even Nick Saban had to fight the Bama nay sayers.
I liked Hinda McCord last season, but he was the main problem, through no real fault of his own necessarily. He was inexperienced. Day puckered up in The Game a bit... and that cost the team. JF or CJ win it all last year... because they would have beaten TCUN, eliminating them from the playoff. Who you got? Bama, Texas, Washington... or OSU with JF or CJ?
Day haven't realized that the trenches are where big games are won. Osu o line is a big ? They will only be as good as the o line. You have to win the trenches period to complete for a natty let alone a big 10 championship. This team is way overhyped.
@@wattsinc. Generally it’s not a positive thing when a football team is less tough than the cheerleading squad. But to each their own 〽️ Edit: Cryin Ryan has a tough team. Really tough.
They go to OSU and ole born in 3rd base softens them up. I do LOVE the mosh pit/chicken dance thingy they do to get fired up. It looks so ridiculous, me and my kids laugh out ass offf.
Ryan Day is not the next Kirby Smart or Nick Saban. He never lost to Vanderbilt or LA Monroe and he never will. Winning percentage and weeks in the top 5 are the most accurate measures (don’t rely on one game samples) and no one beats Day
You mean Ole Miss? Because OSU had a solid foundation before they went portal picking. OSU is what SEC homers think Ole Miss is and what Deion riders think CU is
i guess OSU should start cheating like TTUN did since most fans seem to think that cheating to win is fine just because some idiot talking heads on tv keep confusing the COVID recruiting violations and sign stealing as the same violations.
I think the only way that Day survives another loss to michigan is if they beat them in the playoffs and/or win the natty. It's mostly because the fanbase has sky-high expectations this year. It's to the point where if they don't win the NC, they see it as a disappointing season.
@GAMarine137 I'm sure that's part of it. Buying a team and reloading big parts of it through the portal every year can sometimes be successful, but I think the old school way of recruiting players then developing them for 4 years will always be more successful. The portal is a valuable tool to plug a hole or two, but not to build your entire team with. There's always a reason guys are transferring. Top players moving from one top program to another usually means there's some issues. Whether it be they're just after more money, or maybe there's an attitude problem, it might hurt the team more than help them.
Everyone talking 💩 on this thread only UGA fans can say their coach has had as much success in their first 5 years. So if your not a UGA fan you comments are dumb and you should probably worry about your teams coach because your team will probably never win a natty let alone play for one
That man gives you a winning record up the with Sabans achievements at that respective points after year 3 and yall wanna let him go bc he's lost to Michigan too many times. Ohio State will always be the same 😂
I think the difference there is Saban won 7 national championships and Day doesn’t have one yet. Day is an elite HC but until you win the big one it’s easy to doubt. People did it with Kirby and Harbaugh until they won.
I mean kinda but Saban he could just point half a dozen trophies sitting in the trophy case the same way Dabo has been doing. I know it really stings buckeyes fans whenever they have to be reminded that beating 10 Rutgers every year doesn’t make you champions.
And why does everyone keep leaving out the FACT that at least 2 of the 3 games that Day coached against Mich. Michigan cheated to get the win? That actually happened, everyone knows it. Knowing what play is going to be run, does give you the ability to stop it. Giving them an unfair advantage. But everytime some one says Day is on the hotseat, they leave out that very important fact.
Day has had it right for a long time, Michigan was allowed to cheat and still barely beat him. Think about that for a bit. Cheaters only barely beat him.
They're not going to fire him. Georgia and Oregon have larger bags of money. Georgia is ranked as the number 1 team in every poll, and Vegas gives Georgia the best odds to win the natty. Day keeps his job without winning the natty, especially since he'll kick the crap out of The Cheaters Up North this year. Hairball left town scared because he got caught cheating. Left the university high and dry.
Don’t buy into it Pate! Day now wants to be a CEO coach but there’s a big problem with that. He has no true football identity. He doesn’t create a culture of anything. He’s a good pass game play-caller but that’s about it. Gets very passive in close game situations. He doesn’t know how to instill physicality in the trenches which is what gets you beat when you face the best.
this is hilarious....he didn't "fix" anything.....he just bought a brand new team...He cant coach and chip kelly is a throw away lifer at OC. Idk if we beat them again this year, but i would bet that Oregon does....cryin Ryan is just not a good in game coach.
They had 25 transfer out and only 7 transfer in. It's the quality of those 7 that you're mad at. And remember, Harrison was knocked out of the game when he was torching UGA and they were still only a missed 50 yard FG miss away from beating them. But maybe you didn't see that one
They beat Notre Dame last year and as soon as the game was over he went to spitting in the microphone to Lou Holtz so he’s not wired to tune out what everybody says and that will be his demise for this season.
I understand weak people don't like confrontation but men don't let other men run their mouths and get away with it. Just because you bend over for everyone doesn't mean everyone does.
Urban Meyer essentially "lucked" into his natty at OSU - OSU fan here - Barrett went down and Cardale provided a different kind of game that was able to smoke Wisconsin and they rode Zeke all the way to title town. When presented the same opportunity a few years later when Barrett went down again against Michigan and Haskins came in and saved the day, he rode with Barrett in the Big 10 title game when it would have taken the same kind of OSU/Wisc beating to get into the playoffs and Barrett was NOT capable of that.
Stop supporting OSU they can't prove anything at all. Actually go by the results on the field not by the roster. Ryan Day says the samthing over and over for his lost. Watch him lose three games this year. Even you put PSU over Michigan. Look at OSU QB. That guy has no idea how to read the field and make the right reads. Tell me how come none his five stars done anything on the field. Look how Michigan built up all of its three and four star kids into NFL stars. Get you facts right.
@@jasonodonnell5177 I agree 100%. I was in graduate school at Ohio State during the Cooper years. In a three year span between 95 and 1998 Cooper went 32 and three.
I would laugh my ass off if he looses to Penn state or Oregon or Michigan this year with all this hype and high ranking and shit talking and paying so much cash out and talking culture change and , and , and ...... excuses excuses and dude shave that beard or grow it out like a biker it looks wierd 😅
CFB fans are on average very results oriented (which is stupid in a sport with this sample size) and they have insane recency bias. After giving up 38 in a half to Florida (yes this did happen), UGA fans wanted Kirby gone
We need to stop sugar coating it when it comes to Day. Columbus isn't for the weak. Either produce or youre gone. 3 losses to Xichigan is, by itself unacceptable. With this 20 million dollar team if you cannot produce a national title then you gotta go. Period. After this year what else are you going to have to say as to why it didn't get done?
Ryan Gay was born on 3rd base. Despite having praise and hype from every NCAA football show/ podcast and honestly incredibly talented players every season, he chokes when it counts. He fails to inspire his team. I think OSU is in for another rude awakening this season
As a Buckeye. I agree. I can't call him gay but he has to go. We have literally been one play away from winning and he chokes every time. He is just wasting this talent. Imagine if Saban had all this talent every year
