Hey... I've known this guy for years (and even directed him): he's the real deal. And great to see Brian Lowdermilk at the piano! Great to see this video!
I have followed this man since he starred in Evita....He has the most beautiful voice in the world! He could easily be an opera singer! Love to you Josh and your family! Long may you run! I will always pay to see you sing! When he sings I feel the presence of God.....
BruceWhan~Haha, yes he's quite the "bear" and that's always a good thing IMO! I got to this thru looking for Madonna's work in the movie version. Once I saw the pic, I knew I had to check it out, I had no idea they'd done a version with Eva as a man. Do we know if this was done as some sort of "gay version", where "Eva" is a man and has an affair at least with Colonel/president Peron? Not sure how they approach the rest of the story... I guess go all the way, have them marry and do the whole play/movie? Regardless, Josh has a very nice voice, seems to really feel the lyrics and the piano player was noticeably excellent!
I just caught it, he played "a mistress" not Eva or whatever the male version of her would be named. Still though curious, if he was a "mistress" of Juan's, how did they do rest of the story? As would make sense, in this "reality" of it, with a man playing "Eva" etc...
woah , that pianist was rocking it. how tf did he memorize all of that ? josh youngs voice always makes me happy. I kinda wish the person filming didn't zoom so close into his face. omg, poor josh probably watched this and was like " crap, that would be my bad side if my face wasn't perfectly symmetrical. thank god im blessed"
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long Never fool myself that my dreams will come true Being used to trouble I anticipate it But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you? So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to? Time and time again I've said that I don't care That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through But every time it matters all my words desert me So anyone can hurt me and they do So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to? Call in three months time and I'll be fine, I know Well, maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion But that's no consolation here and now So what happens now? (Another suitcase in another hall) So what happens now? (Take your picture off another wall) Where am I going to? (You'll get by, you always have before) Where am I going to? (Don't ask anymore) Songwriters: Tim Rice / Andrew Lloyd Webber
No he didn't ! It was perfect....He took very little liberties with the melody. It was mainly on his vocal runs and no one has ever sung the song this brilliantly. You are just not used to hearing the definitive version.
I would have to agree with Jim M, although he has an amazing voice, this type of song needs to stay true to the original to be appreciated. Beautiful but missed the mark from the original.. Maybe it's a combination of the solo piano and male voice that makes it so far from the original.
Agreed. It needs a sad introspection with a touch naïveté....she's a girl who has been sleeping with a man old enough to be her father. She's seen a lot and probably doesn't understand a lot of it. She is what Eva could have been and that's an important theatrical point. The song must be treated like a folk song, I think, almost Dolly Parton meets Natalie Maines.
+import26 Seriously? That's your comment? Not that you care, but I'm pretty sure that he had one leg in a cast after injuring it during a performance of Amazing Grace.
+kensdad44 How was he able to injury himself by performing Amazing Grace? Did he dance to it? That song is probably the slowest song ever been written in the history of music.
