When my grandmother passed and we cleared her house, we found in her loft a Stradivarius and a Rembrandt. We were out of luck though because Rembrandt made rubbish violins and Stradivarius couldn't paint.

@IainInLondon • I’m surprised that more people did not ‘Like’ your comment - it illustrated your dry, clever humour. I’m afraid that many people do NOT have the intellect or wit to understand witty humour and can only laugh at obvious, dull, obvious jokes - like American humour.

I'm looking at the 80ft ECO SunReef Catamaran it retails 9.5 Mil. USD. That's something that my entire family would enjoy..along with a CD of Mr. Belles violin playing in the background.❤

Mr Bell is a FORMIDABLE musician. You go look at the net worth of Barbra Streisand and Justin Bieber. He began in 2009. She began in 1963. Unbelievable. Is it all worth it? The 24/7 dedication it takes for someone to reach Josh's level is beyond belief. I am glad he is a millionaire.

Such expensive toys need to be worthy guys, therefore... precious musicians must work until they earn double, that's what fans are for... encouraging freedom of expression and music happenings, because... expensive violins need to entertain us and feel good

This violin was made in 1743. The wood used in this violin must pretty dried out (& possibly very brittle). This must have a significant impact on the sound quality generated from this instrument. Aka, the sound first heard in 1700's cannot be the same as the sound generated from this instrument in 2023. Am I correct? Does it matter?
@Mane_37
@Mane_37 11 месяцев назад
Maybe that's true. You would think humans could dry out wood though. Like you would think that people should be able to mimic the same sound that a 300 year old violin makes. I know absolutely nothing though😂

I imagine if taken care of properly it would still be okay, it could sound different no doubt but no way to tell so doesn’t really matter. My barn is made from wood milled in the late 1600’s and they are still hard and haven’t lost structural integrity yet 😂 it is at-least 100 years older then that violin and I have no worries it will last another 400 years if taken care of properly.

@@Mane_37nah, the violin industry doesn't want you to know that they can replicate that so they can charge ridiculous amounts. The whole thing is a scam

The sound today is better because the old wood is more complex. As he said, it's like a wine, the older the better. Not for the same reason, but in the same way.

I saw a demonstration once where professional musicians, I believe there were 20, were blindfolded and given Strads and other violins to play. Only 2 of the musicians correctly identified the Strads. Which leads me to believe that it's all hype and wishful thinking and Strads are no better than any other violin made by experts with quality woods, quality varnishes etc.

@@Temulonbecause the prices of old Italian instruments are astronomically unobtainable there has been a renaissance of great violin making all over the world. This era is a second golden era of violin making.
