This has been the only video about stoicism Ive ever actually agreed with. Too many self proclaimed stoics put too much emphasis of "suck it up" and "feelings are bad". But this seems to be saying "its ok to feel stressors, but learn to control them" and "do good, be good, feel good". This seems too be a much more nuanced, practical, and humane perspective and application of stoicism.
regardless where the advice came from, genuinely positive advice should be taken to heart. Joshua Graham can be whoever you want him to be. The name and character of "Joshua Graham" is just a surface level entity to grab attention.
There are some major players on the world stage right now that are stoics. A handful of entertainers/influencers too. You can see it in them. They’re misunderstood but they get things done. I think the community of them is small in the world right now and why the mentality is not well received and misunderstood. It’s because it isn’t about what’s always the most fun but what makes the most sense going forward. Which is not what most people are doing. Many today are ego driven, clinging to what’s convenient, comfortable, and feels good vs living for the big picture. There is more to the world than just one’s self. Our lives are seconds to the universe. To sow good seeds while you’re here, that’s a human’s job, that’s it, it’s not complicated but man made it so.
