To be honest AJ will have to have a total disastrous night for Dubois to win… because every Dubois strength and weakness plays to AJ .. example AJ could fight like he did with Ruiz in second fight and still win . He could do like he did against Otto and still win. He could also do Nnagou approach and still win.
Before AJ fought Wallin, the "experts" were all saying what a tough fight it will be, same with Ngannou and many others, after the fight the same "experts" then say AJs not fought anyone with top level experience, next week they'll be saying DDD only ever beat Miller and Hrgovic who in turn have no worth wins to their name.
People talk about better opposition. I think Otto Wallin would beat Jerrell Miller and give Hergovic problems. Hell i think Jermaine Franklin would give Miller problems at least. Let's not forget...most of the people who said Joshua would lose to Wallin and Nnganou were the 1st to discredit Joshua's wins.
@HatmanStrikesBack I like the fact you mentionee Aj not taking any punishment in the last two fights. I think DDD will walk into an uppercut. He leans foward his head and if you watched the Dazn Aj vs Dubois documentary, you cah see Aj throwing the uppercut with bad intention
They've already passed the test, and that was against Wallin. Prior to that fight many persons backed Wallin for the upset; many even said AJ was ducking Wallin and went on to demand the fight. But after AJ and Davison did easy work of the Swede, the goal post shifted. That's the way it is in the sad world of boxing.
That isn't how it went ! People were asking for the Wallin fight YEARS ago Wallin has been out the boxing mix for long look at fight before he for AJ it was a joke of a fight, so no moving goal posts, Walling just wasn't a threat
@@fyarlynx You must be new to boxing. What was the time interval between Wallin/Gassiev and AJ/Wallin? Or perhaps, you don't know who Gassiev is? For your information, Wallin was the underdog against Gassiev, as well as the visiting fighter. And if you followed boxing in an actual boxing platform and not on RU-vid, you would have known the true narrative prior to the AJ/Wallin fight. Like I said, that's the way it is in the sad world of boxing: you just shifted the goal post based on a make-believe scenario that exist only in your head.
@@HatmanStrikesBack Being a big puncher or not is immaterial. What's important is the general perception before the fight. The test was passed... in flying colors. If Davison and AJ were to go on and defeat Usyk and Fury, two guys who are not known punchers, would that take anything away from the wins? I guess not.
@E9_G 😂 you emotional characters make me laugh using same line of "you must stonewall to boxing or casual" grow up, okay Wallin looked like actual crap against Gassiev unless your saying that you actually watched and are saying that Wallin looked good lol because you sound like your typing while playing with Aj, Wallin best days were in and around when he fought Fury which was 4 or more years ago, simple as that, that's when people were calling for that fight so you talking about goal posts is a false boring narrative, so go cry in the corner somewhere after you finish off Aj 🫢
I think Davidson is very analytical to the point being extremely intricate which I think translates well to AJs mindset. AJ is quite analytical and may overthink things. However Davidson is probably able to translate those smaller elements into bigger imperatives because he better understands AKs style from training various fighters. I think AJ has benefitted from this and so this has caused his confidence to grow and subsequently stylistic improvements.
In my humble opinion, AJ doesn't even need to be at his best to beat Dubois. In boxing, most of the learning can be done from analysing the nature of the result as opposed to the result itself. their only high level common opponent is Usyk. Joshua went the distance with Usyk twice, the second of which was relatively competitive and would have been an immense learning experience. Dubois got battered and quit, holding onto a low blow. The fact that Usyk is picking Joshua to win this one comfortably is probably telling. Add this, with the previous experiences from harder opponents and then also add in the fact Joshua is Bigger, faster and stronger with a stronger amateur pedigree... this definitely Joshua's fight to lose.
Maybe I've missed it. But I feel the stamina gap is something that is being overlooked. The work rate that Dubois showed in his last two fights, especially the Miller fight were high. Even stopping Miller in the last 10 seconds. I do agree the smart money is AJ in this fight but for me it's the stamina and work rate that makes me unsure. If Dubois is still there in the second half of the fight and they have been fight at the pace of either of Dubois last two fights then AJ will be in a lot of trouble. Just my thoughts, thanks.
Ben Davison's greatest hour and when I knew he was a top trainer was when he waved the Leigh Wood fight off to save him from further punishment. Leigh came back fresh with an improved fight plan from Ben and dominated Lara. What Ben has done with Leigh is do impressive and now he's showing his talents guiding AJ.
don't be gay...Fury won both of them. Fury won every round except round 12 against Wallin. Ngannou didn't win. You have to be a gayjay fanboy to say that...and you do look....g ay
After so many videos saying how dangerous Daniel is, how likely he is to cause an upset, etc, etc, etc Hatman finally comes out, backing AJ to win by ko!! Welcome aboard son. 👏
@callummcintyre713 Rubbish lad. If what you said was true, I would not have posted the comment I did! I've obviously seen more of Hatman's coverage about this fight, over a longer period than you have.
PLS READ: Everyone should go back to after the Helenius KO, you'll SEE Ben Davison standing outside AJ's dressing room. I truly believe Ben got ahold of AJ & said did you just see what you did? Do you remember WHO YOU ARE? Famed Boxing writer Michael Benson posted on X: "Anthony Joshua on training with Ben Davison: “The reason I was able to gel with Ben is because he doesn’t try to change your style. I went to a stage where I was trying to change my style - a bit of back-foot boxing, box behind the jab, stick and move, not be explosive, control the pace, stuff like that. But Ben was like, ‘That’s not your body type! You’re a fuxking big unit, you’re explosive, go and knock fuxking people out." 💯
I've noticed that slow retreat on the right hand, he's been doing that for years. Dunno if I think it'd be his undoing though....does he even do that unless he feels safe?
Ben and AJ are the perfect team. I have alot of faith in Ben and hopefully AJ listens to the best coach to my eyes. I feel the best coach to date is Ben
@Hatman You could use the same argument you used to downplay Wallin, against Dubois. AJ has had many sparring sessions with Dubois, so he could have a lot of confidence from that. (Yes there is the infamous incident that AJ got caught once, but what was the overall result?)
According to Richie Woodhall AJ handled Wallin in sparring with ease, whereas several of the Dubois spars were competitive. Furthermore, AJ and Wallin are a similar age, whereas Dubois was only 17 when he sparred and hurt AJ.
Dubois jab will be his undoing with AJ. AJ will catch him coming in, like Ngonu, with a counterpunch. It will happen in the first 3 rounds. If Dubois can take the punch, then it will be difficult for AJ but he will win late with the same counterpunch.
I think the narrative that DDD has beaten much better opposition than AJ recently, is questionable to an extent. It really depends how you look at the opposition in relation to the fighter. What is quite ludicrous about this narrative of recent opposition is, there is a suggestion that all the quality opponents AJ has faced in the past and all the tomato can opposition DDD has knocked over in the past, have no effect on what could happen on Saturday. The fact is, AJ has faced and beaten more top 10 fighters than DDD and that probably represents half the pro fights DDD has had. It’s also similar when you consider how many Full world title fights AJ has had. Dubois has had one full world title fight and that’s against Usyk. Ruiz Jr and Usyk account for 4 full world title fights for AJ. You can add Martin, Parker, Povetkin et al to that list too for AJ. Oh I forgot Vlad too.
Hatman this is fantastic ! I have been saying this all along. Both Ben Davison and Don Charles are getting alot of credit for their development of their fighters without really having proving themselves yet in my opinion. I totally agree that this will be the REAL test for Ben Davison but also Don Charles. Lets see whom comes out on top. Don keeps saying that he has added layers to Daniels development ie head movement ? Yet we have not yet seen it ? Ben being a very analytical type of coach which everyone credits for and Don being OLD school
I remember when Ben first came out with fury & so many people called him a PE teacher (me included) how wrong was i & so many other people, even if AJ lost to DDD I’ll always give Ben his props he’s possibly one of the best coaches around, and I’m gonna try real hard to get my son to train in his gym not sure if it will be possible but I’m going to try
AJ by KO, I'm thinking by round 9 but God knows! I do think Ben Davidson has been a positive, though I expect to hear plenty negatives if AJ doesn't demolish him
@@SirDudester44 no I watch boxing. I did a little too and my grandad use to coach boxers. I just don’t like Dubois defence or his movement. I am looking forward to this I am just not mad about Dubois. Not the biggest AJ fan either but I prefer him in this match up.
I would imagine DD has to put pace and pressure on Joshua early. If he lets Joshua get comfortable and in to a rhythm he will probably get took apart. Definitely a fight I’m looking forward to though
This could be a good combat, although I am always pleased to watch Inoue fight , he works all the time, every second. AJ and Dubois have improved their work rate , although I think AJ as spent more time learning to adapt and study, Dubois as had wins against quite static opponents.
Joshua hasn’t fought anyone lately with the tenacity of Dubois. Daniel is going in there specifically to knock AJ out. This is far different than Franklin, Wallin, Helenius etc. can you imagine believing someone telling you that Helenius and Wallin and Franklin went in there and tried to KO Joshua? No. These guys didn’t TRY to ko AJ. Daniel INTENDS to KO Anthony Joshua. That’s a big threat escalation. This is coming down to whether AJ can KO Dubois BEFORE DUBOIS CATCHES HIM.
Ben Davison has been getting AJ to focus on his strengths and building up his power game. AJ is one of the hardest hitters in, but his previous trainers kept getting him to sit back, wait to counter etc which is really stupid against smaller, faster boxers like Usyk. AJ has the power, use it.
I think there both are going to meet In middle at some point and hit each other getting in position throwing multiple punches where Dubois goes down and it gets waved off , I remember seeing the Dubois fight vs that guy Richard Lartey both clipped each other going forward and Dubois was rocked a bit bf stopping him .
Hatman, I wouldn’t pay too much attention to what Richie Woodhall has got to say these days. His commentary on the Usyk/Fury fight was like he was watching another fight. Even afterwards, he still thought Fury won…!
Dubois can win this AJ is past his peak and Dubois is at his peak beating the unbeaten Hrgovic . Whatever happens this will be tough for AJ it’s not going to be an easy night
Not sure how AJ is past his peak when he's got better. Better defence, better ring IQ, better counters. He's even improved his power under Ben Davidson.
Would love to see Dubois pull the upset(and yes I know he's the supposed champ but let's be straight here it would be an upset, that belt was freed up for AJ) but I can't see it. I have a feeling Dubois will retire on his stool mid rounds. He's just too open for a big snappy puncher like AJ. Regardless who wins I can't see them as a true champ, that belt should still he with Usyk.
If ddd wins where will he go fight wise, fury I believe would do ddd, it wouldn’t make no sense him fighting usyk after he quit, so I’m kinda hoping aj wins so the fans can have a few more exciting fights! But hats off to both these dudes! May the best man win! 🇬🇧 🏴
@@HatmanStrikesBack yhh but it’s not what we want 😅 I wouldn’t be paying for them fights fa sure 🤣 I guess if aj loses and fury loses again then hey, give us the fury and aj, I’d deffo pay for that!
For me the key is whether or not AJ can handle the pace. He's had it relatively easy lately, playing a slow waltz, setting up his shots, with all the time in the world, in his last three fights. Dubois is gonna come out guns a blazing, and he's hungry. Maybe that plays into an AJ counter, maybe Dubois will be so fired up the blows glance off, or maybe they don't connect from AJ because, all of a sudden, he has to think on his feet, in the depths of a proper fight. Can't wait to find out :)
It's an interesting one, for sure. If AJ can't put Dubois in his box by hurting him early, he might find himself struggling with the pace and getting clipped!
I wouldn't be surprised if this goes the distance or gets a Late round stoppage, I think AJ is gonna be alot more cautious in this bout, Either way excited to see this!
If AJ wins will definitely get credit but i still think this will clearly show if AJ is over the tentative boxing because Wallin and Francis for different reasons were ideal for AJ, DDD who hits hard and is a actual boxer will test that resolve for certain
@dontbewoke Boxer as in his PROFFESSION is boxing, DDD is hardly tailor made lol considering Aj has been gun shy since Ruiz and hasn't faced a big puncher who is a PROFESSIONAL BOXER
@@fyarlynx Not gun shy against Ngannou , not gun shy against Wallin and Dubois may be a big puncher but couldnt floor either Miller or Hrgovic and won't be able to land enough on the best counterpuncher in the division. He's not accurate or slick with his punches ; AJ will see them coming a mile off and counterpunch his way to a stoppage win inside 6
DD knocks out Aj, the time of the old cats is coming to an end fury, usyk and Aj, wilder is already out and i believe Aj will be next but nothing to be ashamed about , he has achieved a lot
Hatman I was at the AJ vs Parker and Takam fights I saw from a good view AJ has trouble with movement, footwork and speed. AJ Generally does better against bigger guys
@@chuckdee1189 I was referring to the Parker fight that’s why I picked Usyk and how good Usyk was his performance against Gassiev was very impressive. AJ has made some improvements technically/tactically
Wallin was ranked number 1 with the ibf, and ngannou almost beat fury the wbc champion. Miller was 330lbs heavybag who just came off of a drug ban and hrgovic was an unproven ovetrated heavyweight who lost to zhang
Yeah yeah, you where probably one of the ones saying Wallin was going to beat AJ. "Hes a technical southpaw" "he beat up Fury". I'm sure when AJ TKOs Dubois you'll call Dubois a tomato can too.
This IS the acid test for Davison; he was credited for Furys renaissance up the 2nd Wilder fight when Sugar Hill got him the victory Davison didnt. Dubois is live and Joshua cant afford to slip up now, the pressure is more on them to deliver, Dubois can fight on for another 5-7 years Joshua cant
AJ easy fights will be his downfall going into this fight plus open counters right to top of head with long arm body bodys and left hooks when he throws right hands
@@HatmanStrikesBack on paper… I’m really interested to see how he performs. If he gets wiped out, what does that mean? Was he a hype job? Were Miller and Hrgovic hype jobs too? Or is AJ just a lot better than people give him credit for? …it’s going to tell us a lot. Should be good.
@@zarbon700 yapping yapping yapping. you dont know any of that. but we know that these " elite era " boxers were a lot smaller than modern heavyweights
AJ always looks great when he has his way. When he gets his chin gets checked he loses all confidence. I still think AJ should be able to take out Dubois, but it is always a question if Dubois lands can AJ take them shots? Recently Dubois took punishment and prevailed, AJ has not had to show that for a long fight, in fact the only fights he took punishment and won was only the Klitchko fight. Should be interesting fight and safest bet here would be the fight not going the distance
He’s took big punches in all of his comeback fights, his chin is as good as anyone’s. Technically improving, but Dubois will bring it so sure it’ll be a good test for sure.
Is Dubois a tougher test for AJ than Zhang? I really wanted to see AJ vs Zhang due to demographics the fact Dubois also has the IBF Title it’s a bigger fight at Wembley between two Brits in London
