In my humble opinion the bass guitarist is the main musician in a band..All other musicians take their queue from him.He can either make or break the song.The bassist determines the pace of the song.If a bassist is on fire he will bring out the best in the other musicians.That is why I have the utmost respect for a bass guitarist.

I have been a bass player for over 50yrs, I learned in my 20’s that I was responsible for the grove or the tone of the band, I played with a keyboard player who would stop playing, it made me get over my fear of dictating the flow of the band, I accepted that challenge to this day!
