It's amazing that this came from the 1700s that it still works (if they take good care of it well and properly), it will last a long time. I'm surprised that every part of the animatronic/robot/mechanic figure moves, due to the rods, screws, and metal, that it is one of the first animatronics ever created. The machinery hidden under the woman's skirt moves the head, arms, and eyes. At first, it looks creepy, cause it's the way how it was designed, but it's truly a amazing masterpiece. It's beautiful.

If you think about it the king and queen weren’t bad people, they simply didn’t know how to take charge of a kingdom and got too involved in their own little perfect lives and honestly there was not much they could have done.

Holy Hannah!! What an amazing creation. It boggles the mind to think of how they created this, one bit at a time, with what - hundreds? thousands? of moving parts. I can't help but wonder if after years of skilled craftsmen working on this, day in and day out, fine-tuning it to perfection, maybe Marie and Louis just listened politely to a few tunes, then wandered off and did something else, like kids at Christmas ("Oh, let's go play with the box!"). LOL Humans. Go figure.

There is no evidence that Queen Marie-Antoinette ever uttered this phrase. It was falsely attributed to her in 1843, fifty years after her death, and belongs in the realm of legends. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_them_eat_cake Apart from the fact being wrong, I'd like to emphasise that NOBODY deserves to be guillotined, let alone for an alleged misdemeanour such as saying something stupid (which didn't even happen in this case).
@watercolourferns
@watercolourferns 7 лет назад
She didn't say that. The phrase is even older than she was and is of Spanish origin, you ignorant. also, cake in those times had more nutritional value that it does right now since food back then wasn't as processed and synthesized as now.

This famous android was a collaborative effort by two Germans. Clockmaker Peter Kintzing created the mechanism and joiner David Roentgen crafted the cabinet; the dress dates from the 19th century. Automatons were in circulation and aroused much curiosity. Roentgen probably sent the tympanum to the French court and Marie-Antoinette bought it in 1784. The queen, aware of its perfection and scientific interest, had it deposited in the Academy of Sciences cabinet in 1785. The tympanum is a musical instrument that plays eight tunes when the female android strikes the 46 strings with two little hammers. Tradition has it that she is a depiction of Marie-Antoinette. A Robot don't take "decisions", he just do what he was built to do. Every Gear and every Piece have a diferent FUNCTION depending of it's position, speed, weight.. (idk the project). So this Machine are taking decisions constantly. If a Gear are at position A it will do something.. If the Gear are at position B it will do another thing. Respond a "decision" is just process the Algoritm... Doesn't matter if the process is 100% automatic. (Sry about my English, i'm still learning)
@aukua5512

Israel Rêgo your English is great! Yes, that's actually a animatronic, it's a robot but it processes with that much metal and movement that it came from the 1770s, in the 18th century. That's amazing. It's also one of the earliest animatronics ever, through it may be more than 200 years ago but it's still amazing! Yeah, I'm still learning my English too. I speak the language, since I'm a American, but I'm working on spelling, grammar, and punctuation. But for now it's good.

Maybe it makes you sad because Marie's life relates to is sad music.Then there is the art of creating something special not practical. Most robots we will ever create will serve the purpose of doing something manual. We will never achive something like this again (at least until Data of ST).
