when a high pressure real has gas passes through a throttle valve to reduce it's pressure then three things can happen in connection with its temperature i.e. it's temperature may reduce, increase or remains same. question is; in which case it's temperature will rise?, in which case it will fall? and in which case it will remains same? The answer is, it depends on the exit pressure of throttle valve.For some exit pressure it will rise for some it will fall and for some pressure it will remain same. The theory behind this concept is the Joule Thomson expansion which you can learn by this easy to understand lecture on Joule Thomson effect and Joule Thomson coefficient....

How can we say that the gas is at high pressure and at low pressure
@kimbalcalkins6903
@kimbalcalkins6903 Год назад
It seems like Gay Lussac's Law predicts a much greater temperature drop. Using P1/T1=P2/T2, T2=(P2/P1)*T1, T measured in Kelvin. Does this apply to oxygen. I am assuming T1=300K, P1=5PSI, P2=3,5PSI

sir why for the ideal gases enthalpy is a function of temperature only ? H=U +PV . why pressure and volume are not affecting enthalpy in case of idea gas?
@chaithanyacr4773
@chaithanyacr4773 4 года назад
For ideal gas PV=mRT(clearly it's a function of temperature) and internal energy, u= CvdT....Both terms are purely a function of temperature... Therefore enthalpy is a function if temperature only for ideal gases

As some energy is spent by the real gas against it's own inter-molecular forces of attraction (temperature reduces) as the expansion is without enthalpy change.

Please make me clear how to deduce temperture. Suppose we have to reduce the pressure from 250 Bar to 19 Bar , temperature of real gas at 250 Bar is 28 degree. What will be the temperature of gas at 19 bar pressure. Pls reply.
