FINALLY, someone remembers that journals are predominantly WRITTEN! As opposed to SCRAPBOOKS which are all the cutouts and stickers and all that other stuff!

quick question, i just started a journal but find myself using it mostly as a diary and i wanted how you write yours like do you write like a diary/recap or is it more like knowledge you find out or a mix of both? Love the journaling❤❤❤
You can start with the date and time, and write about the weather or your surroundings and write ‘today I feel..’ and write whatever is on your mind and in your heart. You can also start with ‘I remember…’ and there are lots of prompts on Pinterest and RU-vid. Google for journal prompts ("journal prompts for procrastinating" or "journal prompts for when something went wrong") there will usually be something that catches my interest and then before I know it I've written 2 pages. Sometimes I just list out everything that went well that day and everything that went wrong and then try to brainstorm ideas for how to fix the bad stuff and repeat the good stuff to make tomorrow just a little bit better than today. Lists of anything can be a great way to capture your current thoughts, and then after you finish the list you can write down how you feel about those things or what you want to do differently in the future. Some of my favorite lists include, favorite childhood memories, favorite vacations, people who have made an impact (good or bad) in your life, mistakes that you wish you could take back, mistakes that while painful helped you grow and things that you want to do this month to help others. Finally, whenever you think of a good journaling idea write it down on a small post-it note or on a note in your phone then when you can't think of anything to write refer to your notes. For the small post-it notes stick them to the inside cover then when you finish them you can throw it away or transfer it to the inside of the back cover, if it is a prompt that you want to repeat down the line. When I finish a journal I transfer all the post-it notes, I still care about, to the front cover of the new journal.
