Here is a less messy tip to dye doilies. I put instant coffee and warm water in a small spray bottle, laid out wax paper and misted the doilies. let dry then turned them over and misted them again. I have mixture for several months now and it seems fine. I also tend to use paper clips so the recipient can do what they want. I love your decorating Kyra.

These tutorials are so inspiring to watch I can just watch you creating for hours and days Kyra . The naturalist journal is simply delicious and you share so many beautiful ideas. There is so much work that's gone in to the journal itself and the tutorials, thank you. I am incredibly grateful to spend a few hours with you each week as I rediscover my papercraft passion. Watching from the beginning of the tutorials, you clearly had a lot of work printing out all the papers in the beginning. In real time, how long does it take you to create a journal like this, if you weren't having to film and edit? Also I am very interested in any tips you might have as to how you organise yourself. I am in the beginning stages of my journalling journey and find myself 'gathering' lots of materials, but yet to produce much at all, from a sense of knowing where everything goes and quite where to start. Any advice you have would be incredibly welcome. You truly are a blessing. Thank you again.

Wow! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! That made my day to hear how much you love my journals. 💗🥰 And I'm thrilled to hear you are getting back into paper crafting and beginning a new journaling journey! To help answer some of your questions: Q. How long in real time does it take to make a journal? A. It really depends on the journal. I think this journal took me about 9-10 days, working 6 hours a day. I would say the fastest I ever created a full journal from start to finish would be my recent Hometown Christmas Journal, which took me 5 or 6 days (again, working on it about 6 hours a day). Other journals, like my "Sepia and Ivory" journal took me more like two weeks, because I spent a lot of time on the little details like inking the edges of everything, printing everything front and back, etc. Because junk journaling is my full time job (which I am so blessed to be able to do!) I am able to spend time just sitting down and working on it for long hours, BUT I also have a bit of a time limit because subscribers are expecting videos from me, so sometimes that means I have to skip over little details I would like to add in favor of getting the video out. But for most people there's no rush. You could make a journal in a day (skinny journal, envelope journal or writing journal) or spend an entire year building a single large decorative journal if you wanted. It really depends on the complexity of the project and how long you have been journaling. I feel like working on junk journal crafts nearly every week for two years straight has helped me iron out my process and move a lot faster! Q. How do you organize yourself and know how to use your materials in a journal? A. That's definitely a learning process! I think everyone ends up developing their own way of doing things. Since I primarily use printed materials from our Etsy Shop kits to make my journal, I typically start by taking a look at what's new and picking a kit that inspires me in some way (Maybe the color scheme or theme). Our kits come with papers, pockets, ephemera, so a lot of the work is kind of taken care of, I just need to decorate and assemble. Typically I start with printing and cutting things out, sorting them out on the table into "like-items" piles, inking them, choose pages for my signatures, distressing them, building my cover and decorating it, binding the pages to the cover, then I work with pockets first and go from there. Once you have pockets, it's easy to fill a journal. I also tend to use items from old tutorials (Like maybe I made some tags or a flip or something like that) so just by following along with our weekly tutorial projects, you should be able to build up quite a stash of items you can use in your future journals. Here is a video I made explaining how I created my personal junk journal style and sort of my process for when I begin to plan a journal I want to make: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AJ1aDeJ5V7E.htmlsi=1T3oFPnx15Ip1jPD And here is another video where I explain some ideas for what goes in a journal in case you were looking for some inspiration: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_jl0CgWnCh4.htmlsi=IxvzLxmmDGNYgf4U Here is a video for anyone who is very new to junk journaling (Might be redundant to you but I wanted to share just in case.) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L2WoofsvEG8.htmlsi=9C9vjBvUfT47I7Fr This is a playlist with videos related to movement and dimension, if you are looking for some more advanced projects to add to your journal besides just pockets and ephemera: ru-vid.com/group/PLQzfr9QzZFLK_UUM39ICXCXD4q1wQiLv1&si=uT5sryvQoLAgH7W4 Sorry for such a long response! Hi Kyra. Thanks for your awesome videos and kits. I'm working on my second journal right now and am really loving it. At 19:13 in the video above there is a piece you added to the envelope . Could you tell me where to find it? I'm working on my naturalist journal right now and would love to use that piece. I've bought all sorts of kits. I think that piece must be in one that I have. Thank you so much for your help.

Did you coffee dye the papers or are there pre-made ones to buy? Also, what size of the brown envelopes are you using? A2 or A6?
@myporchprints-junkjournalt5340
Hello! I'm sorry I'm not sure about the envelope size. We purchase our coffee dyed papers, but we also have printable ones here: www.etsy.com/listing/648949099

Is this a journal? or just an exercise in filling a book with ephemera?

Hello! 😁 It depends on your definition of a journal. Some people use journals for writing, and others use them for artistic expression. Here is our blog post about the ways to use a junk journal: www.myporchprints.com/post/what-to-do-with-a-junk-journal
