Join Dreamfinder and Figment as they discover what makes our imaginations so important and unique. This was such an amazing attraction, and it truly captivated my imagination as a child. The vivid colors, diverse scenes, and beautiful music are absolutely incredible to see, even today! I wish they had not changed this ride so much. They could have updated it and added some modern effects but kept the overall theme and story the same, and it would have been perfect. What do you think? Enjoy!!

Disney needs to stirrr up this atmosphere again with the lights dancing and the steam punk and all. Everything here felt so magical beyond anything. Just WHY disney?? WHY!??

I had assumed it was nostalgia hype but even in this compromised, lowrez representation this experience is objectively superior vs. today. Soul, wit, visually stunning. Was there last week with my kids. It was still in their top 5 in all of WDW and Figment was must buy plush. I’ll just have to IMAGINE how cool it must have been.

This marvelous attraction was one of many that made the original EPCOT one of, if not the very best theme parks in the world! It's all the more reason to be saddened by the mockery of that legacy seen in the current state of the park.

I adored this ride and hate the re-do they have now. It's not very imaginative. The original ride was so amazing! And I really miss the Dream Finder. I still will visit the attraction because I love Figment so much, but it's just not the same. Thank you for posting this!

I agree. Some children want to know how Figment was created, and this video (or watching Epcot channel, a fan-made channel that I made) are the only hope of that children!

Figment was my whole heart growing up. DISNEY=FIGMENT to me. I just visited Epcot, Figment being my obvious MUST SEE, and I was so heartbroken and disappointed in the ride! Not only that, but there was NO MERCH! DISNEY: WTF? Thank you for posting this so that I could remember what Figment truly is, and is meant to be! Can we make a movement to #BringBackFigment and the Dreamfinder?

Well it’s better than journey into YOUR imagination. That was a piece of trash that no one liked. Plus it even got rid of figment.

This one is ok…. But the new one is the only one I’ve ever seen and I’ve learned to love it sooooooo much that I just can’t make the old one #1. Everyone has different opinions so I respect yours, even though we don’t agree.

when i was a kid i found this picture of my mom in the rainbow tunnel and i was immediately enchanted...imagine my disappointment going to epcot and it no longer existed! this ride is so magical and i wish i had gotten to experience it. it's leagues better than the current one, sorry eric idle

Oh, the beautiful rainbow tunnel... I was six the first time we visited Epcot and this is one of the things from our visit that I never forgot. I'm pretty sure we have a picture of us taken in there as well. I can understand your disappointment, I'm sad this went away as well.

I miss this version of Journey Into Imagination. This was the one I grew up with. We rode the current version when we went to WDW a few years ago, and I was so bored. Bring back the original ride.

This was my all time favorite ride as a Kid. I love Figment. I do like the new ride but of course the original will never be beat. But I got to share the new ride with my Godson and he fell in love with Figment also so I am one happy Godmother. Thank you for sharing this, it was great to remember my childhood!

I've had a stuffed Figment since I was two. Then Dad got me another Figment we call Midment. Then Dad got an 18 in tall Figment we call Bigment. Now I have a plush sleepy Figment.

This is great, I used to live in Florida and my parents took me 2-3 times a year, Epcot was always my favorite, the Imagination song has been in my head forever. Anyone remember the anti-gravity green screen experience and big kaleidoscope in the same building? I was sad to see it gone and replaced my Michael Jackson years later. I see that it's back but not as good. What memories

I just spent the weekend at Disney for the first time in almost 30 years and was SO excited to ride “Figment” again, as it was a ride I would go on with my dad when I was a kid. It’s SO tragic that it has changed into what it is today😢😢 zero imagination.

Really wish I could have gone on this when it was around, but it closed when I was a wee toddler. I at least got to ride the Great Movie Ride and Maelstrom before Disney pulled their plugs too.

i truly love this version of figment so much he was someone guests could relate in a way that the new figment is not. he helped us discover the true potential of our creative mind this new figment is kind of bratty and spoiled and likes to cause trouble. disney please bring the real figment back thanks!

Journey into Imagination, which is a rare attraction opened on March 5, 1983 and closed on the 10th of October in 1998.

Kodak sponsored the ride originally, in 1983. By 1999, the ride was in need of repairs and upgrades but Kodak was going broke with the advancement in digital cameras and other financial problems in general. However, Disney under the Eisner regime refused to let Kodak out of the contract, despite Kodak proving that they didn’t have the funds to fix up the ride. Disney forced Kodak to stay and work on the ride, so Kodak used their finite budget to make a new version of the ride, which was cut in half, and made awful. The latest version of the ride is damage control due to backlash by the public, but they just put lipstick on a pig.

yes I got to meet Figment and dreamfinder as well! It was so spectacular to me as a child. As an adult, i hated the new changes to the ride and I'm not happy they shuttered the pavilion in favor of something different. I was there as a child when they had Captain EO with Michael Jackson as a kid and I greatly enjoyed that too, sad when change comes.

What was the technology behind the one story tall art canvass that mr. dreamfinder painted? How did they make it work. Polarized light thru birefringent plastic panels? I really want to know how they did this particular scene on the ride. It was hypnotizing. If anyone from disney that created or worked on that prop, please tell us. Thanks !

Why is it that all executives of companies have no idea what the public likes? I have been watching videos of rides that either have been changed. Or just done away with... problem is most of these people are out of touch of the mainstream. It’s so sad! They are more about lining their pockets while they still are in charge

Beautiful job, filming this! I wish I could have seen this ride in its heyday. I missed a chance to see it in ‘96 for the eighth grade graduation trip, because I got sick with Norovirus earlier that year and my parents didn’t want me traveling from SoCal to Florida after just recovering from it.

I was so angry when I took my kids on the Figment ride in 2019. I remembered this one from my childhood, and didn’t realize they’d destroyed it. What a disappointment. I’d have skipped Epcot entirely if I’d known.

One of the problems with so many of today's little people is that adults have robbed them of their Imagination. I miss Dreamfinder and some of the original version. I do like parts of the newer version. But HATED the one where Figment was completely removed.

As someone who didn’t grow up with this version, I don’t really know how good this version is, but it just looked all over the place, I know I will get hate on this , but the current one is more put together. I loved it when I was younger!
