When you are 54 years old and you're singing like this almost every night and still bringing the same energy each performance is pretty awesome. Arnel already stepped away from the shadow of Steve Perry as he already created his own vocal fills in all of their songs. Incredible singer and i'm just glad that Journey is still performing like this! A lot of bands in their 50s and 60s are already changing a lot of their arrangements but Journey's staying consistent! And btw, stop comparing Arnel to Steve. Arnel, by now, earned his stripes as he's the longest vocalist of the band. Steve is a great singer, and Arnel is as great but a different kind.
@John Christian Castillo, I totally agree with you, AP now is the longest-tenured frontman of Journey, such a tough act to follow as a frontman should Arnel Pineda would not be there, considering his talents, energy, stamina, and charms to the crowds with his presence! I think if that happens, maybe they could find one, but how long would they last??
Remember the 60s, 70s, and early 80s? Back then, people actually had to have talent to get into the music industry. Not to mention Sinatra and Dean Martin
Aside from Arnel's being an amazing singer and performer, his fans worldwide have been equally amazing. They have continued to support and follow the him and the band.
No wonder why Journey's managmnt didnt allow Arnel to resign. He still can draw a huge crowd. an amazing and humble guy like him is love by the fans! beautiful!
Not to mention that he was given an equal share in the band. He is no longer a hired gun...he owns part of the band and has a full vote on all decisions.

seeing the documentary, arnel then has a separated locker from journey members and he always thought after those years they will just book him and not their officially front man. now he wanted to resign recently but they refused the resignation thinking that arnel has bought a way too far to the band. his kindness , his down to earth attitude, his perseverance is something you cannot find to other artist... able to still talk after that 1 to 2 hours performance is a true stamina
@@IVant2BAlone , NO, AP is not resigning, but Jon Cain and Neal were fighting, suing each other, and because of that, Neal wants Gregg Rollie in the tour, to join in, he used to do J Cain's job, when G Rollie resigned, J Cain step in and wrote all those popular songs of Journey such as Open Arms, Faithfully, , etc which SP helps too in writing. >>>>NOW, the wife of Nea was putting online that 2 members do NOT like Rollie, it's a known fact that it's J Cain as Rollie was doing his job. BUT….BUT.. his fans either listen to the old records to enjoy it fully…BECAUSE Steve can NO LONGER perform on the road at the same level he used to many years ago. ARNEL saved JOURNEY from disintegration. NEIL is the JOURNEY with JOHNATHAN CAIN. And FANS prefers yo WATCH LiVE!!!! Get it??? Arnel is tireless on the road for 15 years with Journey band ok?? He is only human There are days that he can be under the weather and noticeable on his voice… but The Band still performs. Now, we can see that more people prefers watching live Journey than just listening to records played on RU-vid. Get it??? ENJOY Life!! You only live once!! Arnel has been touring with Journey since 2008. The Longest among all Journey's front men. And he started with Journey at the age of 40, not in his prime anymore and yet he was able to sustain his voice. Of course Arnel is 2008 is not the same Arnel today. He struggles already in hitting those high notes. But lets face it Arnel is already 54. But still amazing anyway!
I love Arnel's enthusiasm, stage presence and voice. An integral piece of the recent resurgent success of such a fabulous band. Keep touring. I will always be present. So glad Milwaukee is one of your stops this year. My friends and I will be cheering you on!
Recent??? He is with the band for more than a decade already and they had lot of concert tours hence up to now he isnt being replace despite his bad days but unfortunately on new album sales it didnt translate to success so they didnt made more after the one with AP instead they just do concerts.
Arnel has done a Great Job mimicking the voice of the Great Steve Perry. He definitely gave new life to Journey. What's even more amazing is that the band themselves STILL sound remarkable. Great Showband, Great Sound after all these years....

I only watch journey music all around YT academy/theater and as much as possible i refrain from commenting because toxicity flourished everywhere it is much more worse than these crazy Covid. Im really proud of you Arnel.. You made a toughest job in the world being with journey singing their songs in a live crowd is not a joke and will give you anxiety to be on stage but look at you because of your set of pipes you did it thats wonderful and nobody can do that because you are the chosen one. And hearing your voice here is like you're in the middle of your years with journey. I thought your voice is done I was wrong and you still have some years of lease of your voice and Im hoping to see your next true to life film
Gifted by God! Imagine growing up very poor as a teenage and struggled to adulthood… God protected Arnel’s voice and As Oprah said there must have been a divine intervention b/c from obscurity (AP was not even recognized A-lister among Philippine singers).. God found him an A-list World famous legendary band to join!!!! That is God’s hand working!! AP is a humble and I hope he remains that way. After he joined Journey all the TV and artists in Manila and around the Philippines began to recognize him.
Arnel is like the band, tuning up for the upcoming national tour with Toto. His voice, just like Steve Augeri’s, took a beating. Even Steve Perry sings a step down from his golden days. He’s 70-71 and Arnel is 54. Even Augeri’s voice never fully came back singing this set night in, night out….
i thought the show at caesars , few years ago, was better. but maybe my expectations were high. or maybe it was the sound system. but i don't account any of it to the band
True, Anthony. That's why both Deen and Jason are doing some lead vocals. Between the ultra dry air in Vegas, Arnel having to deal with asthma, and being in his mid 50's, gotta protect his pipes.
The timing of this could not be better- Journey is one of my absolute most favorite bands ever, and I have to write a short paper on any concert I’ve never seen before. This is amazing!!
THIS concert is the best version of Journey in my opinion. It reminds me of when Mick Jones formed the all star version of Foreigner in 2006, so much energy and the musicianship is so incredible. The vocals and harmonies are on an insane level along with the band being so tight and Neil playing better than ever. This is the best I've heard Arnel sing! What a kick ass concert.
Great show in an intimate venue. New bassist plugged right in, vocals and all. Jason Derlatka sounded outstanding and Castronovo is worth his weight in gold.
That was awesome. Thanks for keeping Journey’s music alive. They have been around for 50 years. It’s impossible to keep members that long. Were you pissed when Greg Rollie left and they brought on another guy named Steve Perry? If you’re not a fan anymore, then move on. This was posted for the fans to enjoy.

It's too phenominal and so inspiring. I just can't take it that other people call Arnel monkey, a karaoke boy and all those hurtful names. There are just people who are incensitive and finds happiness by hurting other people. I hope they will get their karma and retribution one day and maybe then they'll realize what they did wrong. I'm glad that the band is full of energy, arnel is in excellent voice form (excellent Open Arms but also others), Deen is back and that's right (he could still sing Sen Her My Love). Everyone constantly compares singers, but no one is perfect. I'm a fan of Steve Perry, but he also sang Only The Young at concerts too fast, as if he was still in a hurry. I'm looking forward to the new double album. It would be perfect if Steve Perry attended a Journey concert and sang 3 songs, for example, but let's be happy for what we have. Good luck, Journey.
