I've been listening to Guinness, Gielgud, Laurie, even Eliot himself. This recitation beats them all. Petherbridge delivers deep sensitivity to the spiritual suffering and harshness of the world and the paradox of life and death in the incarnation.
So very true, if he had read all major Eliot's poems like Irons or Guinness did, It would've been a significant contribution to literature and gorgeous tribute to another master, i believe.
A masterful reading, completely in character of the Magi recollecting the harsh, fearful and tiring journey to Bethlehem, with wonderful use of silent, reflective pauses inbetween your gentle, wise intonation...this is how poetry should be read, excellent.
