I 😢think it kinda was the songs, they are a bit like Beatles music, the songs can be sung by anyone and they are good songs, as opposed to lots of other artists where the distinctive sound itself is the strength.
there is already.. his name is Arnel Pineda..it doesnt mean that Steve is not deserving but he is the founder of the Journey and Arnel Pineda is the one that continue his legacy until now and made The Journey LIve longer..
Steve Perry is one class act! His speech was humble, thoughtful, sincere and selfless. And kudos to him for mentioning and acknowledging Arnel Pineda! God bless you Steve!
This man, he is so sensitive. I can see clearly, that he suffered so much. Even when he sang, he is sensitive. Thank you so much, for your voice, Mr Perry.
GALAXY USER1 N Journey was inducted because of their work in the late 70s, 80s, and mid 90s. Arnel has contributed to keeping the music alive but he had nothing to do with Journey's induction, and Arnel knows it. He appreciates his role.
It is a collaborative effort that got them in. Without Herbie Herbert Steve Perry may have remained an unknown. And Steve Perry without Journey isn't as good. Without Journey there would probably be no Steve Perry
Isn't it lovely that only Neal thanked Steve for his contribution. Especially when he is the reason they are in the Hall of Fame or continued to be a band after 1977. Steve proved that he is a class act and the audience absolutely adored him. What a great phenomenally talented guy. He and Pat were standouts.
Without Steve people without Steve there is no journey. There is no band the new lead singer. He's like a kid. He's good. His voice is good but he's not. Steve, there's nobody that comes even compared to Steve. Steve was Steve this pisses me off. It really does you know. Journey is awesome! Great band. Great videos MTV the time you know. Oh my god I wish he would go back. He just made another album. Steve Perry did. It's just I guess he couldn't get along. Neil schon i's just stuck on himself Well seems Neil did make the band. He came from Santana 1973. I don't know. I just I love the music. Great music never dies
@@phoenix8498 everyone doesn't do what's right. I truly respect Steve for honoring Arnel. It warmed my heart to see those two pictures of them together, they respect each other, and Steve Perry is a class act, so is Arnel.
Steve Perry not only has the most beautiful and powerful voice I've ever heard but is a classy man as well. I'll always love journey till the day I die. I'm 45 and being born in 74 I'm really lucky to have grown up in the 80's. It was a time of great movies and music
I watched that 2017 hall of fame induction speech again and I must say Mr Perry is one class act . Out of all the speeches his stood out because he mentioned everyone of his band mates. This is just another example of why he stands out along with his talent also his real compassion-his fans will always love him. Just being for real❤️🎼🎤🎼🎤🎼🎤🎼🎤
Steve was a member of that original road crew. Herbie knew the drummer/singer was not working out and had Steve hired as a roadie with the intent to move him into the lead singer role. He has fond memories of being a roadie because his boss was of Portuguese decent as well.
@@janebeatty9472 This isn't true. Perry was never a roadie. Manager Herbie Herbert brought him on board with the story that he was roadie John Villanueva's Portuguese cousin. This was a try out and introduction without upsetting current lead singer Robert Fleishman, who was not working out. The introduction was successful and Perry was hired as lead singer. His thanks to his road crew were genuine, but not because he was ever one of them.
@@amylacher5636 I believe what I said is true and partially backed up by what you are saying. Steve was a member of that roadie crew, albeit short lived.
And some of Arnel's fans were heckling Steve during his speech. If not for Steve, and his songwriting ability, and his incredible voice, Arnel would not even have a job.
Kura...fuk u?? What is that to mean?? Not that it should be spelled that way! Obviously you have no class with language as such lol, Amy ignore these asses👍🏻
Steve Perry is just a BOSS, and a true gentleman in every sense of the word...class, class, class, oh, and arguably the greatest singer that ever walked the planet.....at least in the top 10.....thanks for your amazing music.
I have always loved Steve Perry's voice since I first heard it at age 13. It just stops you in your tracks, mesmerizing, nothing existed but that voice while singing. Steve Perry. 👏👏👏
💯%. Girl, there wasn't a inch of space on my br walls, that wasn't graced by Steve!!☺😂😁. My mom only tolerated it, because she thought he was a good singer 👏 👏👏 The songs were the soundtrack to my 1st boyfriend, 1st heartache, high school...
broadstreet21 he told the band that he wouldn’t go back if they toured under the Journey name without him. He asked them not to crack the stone because he was definitely getting hip surgery, so blame Schon/Cain, especially Cain because he’s the one who talked Neil into replacing Steve and going on tour as Journey with Steve Augeri.
@@broadstreet21 How could he have? Surely you know that Schon and Cain got tired of waiting for him to get the hip replacement and moved on with a tour without him. They hired Steve Augeri. Even.if offered, Perry would not have accepted after that betrayal.
When I saw Steve Perry walk up it brought tears to my eyes. Lets not forget Neal's epic guitar solos .....so melodic and musical......youve truly given us a gift.
Got goosebumps when Steve started walking to the mic. The tension is palpable when Steve started with his speach. His new album, Traces...you guys, is a treat!
You’re right you’re still here because of Arnel Pineda... almost forgotten...thanks to Steve Smith and Steve Perry for mentioning Arnel and acknowledging his part of keeping the band rolling..
It is sad that Steve is the only one who acknowledged everyone on stage that night. Neil mentioned Steve but it seemed like everyone else snubbed him. I love that he also thanked and acknowledged Arnel. I will always love Journey but Steve will always be the GOAT VOICE. I also think it's sad that when Gregg left because he was tired of touring, it was okay. When Steve left for health and and personal reasons, he became public enemy number one to the band. This is why I will always be a Steve Perry fan! He is humble and kind.
i think that's the norm.... for the members of a highly successful band getting pissed at their front man for leaving at the height of their success. Steve, Peter Cetera (Chicago), Lionel Richie (Commodores), etc. cos, they perceived as soon as their key to success left, so did their hot streak.
I, too, noticed the guys didn't acknowledge Steve, but he acknowledged all of them. Therefore, he out shined them all!! I know who Steve of Journey, but couldn't tell you any of the others.
If you'll notice just by comments alone, Neil wrote the words but its the way that Steve Perry delivered those words that made Journey a band that was worthy of being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Love you Steve!!!
I wonder if Steve Perry really realises how good he actually is. If you ever want to wrap up the eighties in a ball it would be Journey. Steve, I love you for ever and thank you for recognising Arnel for bringing back the eighties and the best memories of my life.
@@amostlyreasonableguy - so true (although i never thought steve was the greatest ever just because of his high notes) i LOVE his neve album - especially "no erasin" and "we're still here".
Let's be honest, people that can play instruments well in a band are a dime a dozen. It is truly the unique and powerful voice of Steve Perry and the writing ability of he and his band mates demonstrated by their great catalogue of songs that make them special. Well deserved!
Steve Perry is a class act he mentioned so many and it looked like( to me ) a couple of the Members kind of ignored him he was thoughtful and will still be the Lead man for Journey they were lucky to have him
The lady at 16:12 is saying "without him, there wouldn't have been a Journey..." when Steve was at the mic ...so friggin true! Steve was the voice, heart and soul of Journey. He made them the greatest band. He was the icing on the cake.
Can you even believe the cheering when Steve Perry walked up there. Un-Real. I am just happy that they brought Steve with them. He is Journey. Even the language that he used was classy coming from him.
I love them all, but Steve is the best in his kind speech . He has a great heart!! Here in Brasil, we know Journey just because of Steve and his incredible voice!!
Steve Perry put Journey on the map. His voice brought the music out. It's very unfortunate how he was treated to leave the band. Arnel knows the words. But he is not able to bring Perry's emotional voice to the songs. I'm happy to see Steve is sharing his voice once again. He is the best ever. Journey needs to look at themselves and see why they didn't keep Steve with just patience. Who's crying now.
Steve is such a class act and so humble to thank the ones we never see, the road crew, the fan club.., True to his words, his speech was brilliantand spot on. So glad he was there! Some of bands members took their punch at Steve but he came out the winner!
I was a bit frustrated that the rest of the journey band never mentioned Arnel, Kudos to Steve Perry for appreciating Arnel, he is truly one humble and honorable person..
Arnel Pineda is a great great singer and there is not enough room in this post for me to talk about that particular point. However, Arnel Pineda did not make Journey an all time great band. At the end of the day, it is Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Steve Smith, and Ross Valory. Pineda was brought in to give Journey one last run and he has done wonderful. Pineda is an all time great because he is a phenomenal talented singer...
As Steve said the sound of Journey is all the musicians combined and their working together as a ensemble but it's Steve's voice that has made Journey.
Insane that it took this long for Journey to make it into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Of course all the members are legendary, but Steve's instrument just takes you to another plane of existence.
That is so damn cool that he gave a shout-out to Arnel. I was really hoping he would. He brought journey back to prominence and does a hell of a job with the legacy that Steve Perry started. What an insanely talented group of musicians end one of the biggest bands that's ever been or ever will be.
I highly commend Mr. Steve Perry for mentioning ARNEL PINEDA who carries on the music LEGACY that Journey had long been established! My salutations to you Me. Steve Perry!
I love steve too; but don't forget, it was steve perry who fired ross valory and steve smith at one point. - on "behind the music" steve said it was one of his biggest regrets.
Arnel Pineda, salamat sa iyong contribution sa Journey. Ipagmalaki na ikaw ay Pilipino na nagtagumpay sa larangan ng musika. You, Arnel, kept the music of Journey, alive. Steve Perry, you are the best. I am fan.
Thank you Steve Smith and Steve Perry for appreciating and thanking Arnel for his contributions in keeping the legacy sound of Journey. Much respect to both of you!
By the way its not a slap to perry alone but to all americans.... The band is only using arnel just to grind gold to accessorized their teeth.... And one thing more perry cant sing anymore just like before,,,, i think he felt that he was about to lose his voice thats why he left not only the band but the industry as well,, as what i have observed the way he sang on his recorded video, no more steve like the Steve before that's why you americans always keep on saying no steve no journey , he is legendary he has contributed that legacy already just to keep him because you cant accept that there's a lil guy that could be able to bring back the band to the music world and to the music lovers.... 😮😮😮😮😮
Everytime i watch this, steve perry is sooo genuine and found closure with his former bandmates even though some of them probably still hold some resentment towards steve. Im so glad Journey made it to Rock and roll hall of fame before any of them passed away. I wish they would make at least 1 more song together for us with steve perry but at least journey songs with steve perry will still live on in our hearts! ❤
Steve Perry, wow! This has to be one of the classiest things to ever happen in Rock n Roll. Mr Perry, you Sir are an example for all to follow. I would’ve like to have heard you sing……but I get it.
Kudos to Arnel for singing with journey today and keeping the music out there...but Steve Perry is and will always be the voice of Journey!! 💯 truth! ❤️. And what a great guy he is!!! Humble and grateful! Class act Steve!! ❤️❤️❤️
Always a JOURNEY fan-- and a lover of Steve Perry's voice -- If it hadn't been for his Mama pushing him to give Journey a try -- we would never know the greatest singer of all time--- "Thank you Mrs. Perry"
Kudos to those journey members who has the decency to mention or acknowledged Arnel Pineda. Without Arnel, journey could have been forgotten already. Thank u steve perry
I love Journey. They are amazingly incredible. That's why they lived the Legacy. Thank you Steve Perry for remembering and appreciating Arnel in your heartfelt speech. Long live Journey!!!
Steve Smith and Steve Perry Acknowledge Arnel Pineda for continuing the legacy of Journey. You guys are all amazing. I would say,Journey is the best!.And wish all of them stick together to produce more music for more years to come.. City Lights? Light up the cities through your beautiful music.
Send them my love... Love Journey and their songs. Missed so much Steve Perry when he got out of the band. Journey is not the same without him. And by the way: Steve was amazing in his speech. 🥰🥰🥰
Great moment. Amazing band, amazing talent. Steve was such a class act mentioning and thanking each of them individually...yet it's a shame no one else mentioned him. Highly unlikely they'd be on that stage without Steve joining Journey - he took them to the stratosphere.
Thank you to both Steves!.., Steve Smith and Steve Perry for appreciating Arnel's effort..you've said it right, he worked his ass-off to keep Journey's presence felt today via non-stop tours, keeping your legacy alive and more felt in this generation, making the band happy that they could play live again... I'm sure Arnel apreaciated it so much as well..
He should appreciate the fact that he's getting paid to cover a former Journey member's songs. Which is exactly what he was doing before Journey. The fact that he gets to make millions by singing another person's songs should be enough. Sure he's helped keep Journey going, but beyond that what has he really done to contribute to their success. City Of Hope is the only somewhat success that's he's helped contribute to the band. Besides that his entire tenure with Journey is just him singing Steve's songs. He should be happy that he was even mentioned at all.
I like how everyone cheers when Neal acknowledges Steve Perry but almost no one cheers when he mentions how Gregg Rolie was why Journey was formed. Story of Journey’s life.
Steve Perry acknowledges Arnel cause he knows the struggles and efforts needed to be a vocalist for his own voice in the band where Steve himself probably couldnt do anymore cause all vocal cords ended up aging
❤ journey will always be my band i was 16 years when I heard them I fell in love with steve Perry awesome voice. Im 60 years old now and journey is still my rock and roll band I will never get tired of there songs my #1 favorite is don't stop believing God bless them
