Hello from the Bay Area...my wife and I are really enjoying your videos. Thank you for sharing. We are seriously considering a move to Valencia as well and, like you guys, are thinking about renting our house to have some passive income. I just saw a video on a channel called "Days We Spend" that covers the NLV process and they share some interesting information about how Spain views rental property abroad and how it could affect your application if you are applying for a NLV. According to their experience, the consulate in both LA and SF are super strict about viewing a mortgage strictly as debt versus income. If your house is paid for then, I am assuming, that you'd have nothing to worry about but if you have a mortgage you may be required to show how you can cover that payment, as well as Spain's requirements, for the length of your VISA to qualify for a NVL. It would be great if you could confirm that or share how to navigate this part of the process....or, if you already have some insight from your research.

@@CloserToHappy We are feeling the same way, planning to move for next school year. I would have sent the link but RU-vid tends to block those...so hopefully their video will help you avoid any major "surprises". They have a great to-do checklist if you are doing it yourself. I think we are going to hire someone to help us.

Hi. Have you considered establishing residency in a state other than CA to avoid paying state income tax? I know you're stuck paying federal taxes. I promise I'm not with the IRS.

😂 Yes. We have several friends who have done this, but will probably be in Spain soon!
