I hope you enjoyed this adventure everyone! I have been here a few times and love the area. It should definitely be on your list of places to visit if ever in Canada. The glacier sits next to the Icefields Parkway drive and is one of the nicest roads I have ever been on.
Great filming, nice nature scenery. Thank you for share ... the earth continues to warm ... Where I now live was 9000 years ago on the glacier the river that gave birth to the region where I live Punkaharju (Finland) Have a happy autumn week
Thanks very much!! Very beautiful spot but unfortunate that the glaciers are disappearing. Cool thanks for the info. Would love to visit Finland one day. Take care!
Great video really enjoyed being back there again. First time we were there was ten years ago. stayed over night and took the special bus up to the Glacier. the next time we visited the Glacier was three years ago. what a big change , it is melting fast. this time we took the bus again. you could see a big difference. Lots of water running. We all filled our water bottles . Well explained and again very informative. great job. thanks.
Interesting video. It was neat to see the markets showing where the glacier was in previous years. Sad to hear about the accident. Seeing and hearing about the glacier was neat. Thanks for the video. Take care. 👍
It has been way too many years since I last passed through that area of Jasper...I just simply must get myself from Nova Scotia back to British Columbia soon...sure appreciate your narration too...really helps...thanks so much...
Yes its pretty much winter year round out there on the glacier or at least feels like it most days. I don't know an update on the bus tours for this season yet. Thanks!
Very very nice area to visit. Love it there. It can get cold in summer up in that part of the mountains and all the glaciers all around. Thanks for stopping by.
Well done Wade! Great views and information on the Athabasca Glacier. I walked up there on I think Aug 11 and as you say, I almost froze on the walk up - a stiff wind howls down over the glacier. Is amazing how much it has receded, and still does. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀👍
Thank you very much! We were there in area I think Aug 15th and 16th. Yea you definitely notice the cool air coming down from the icefield and glacier. Thanks again for watching and take care! 👍
Taking the ice field bus up onto the glacier was a memorable experience. It is sad that accident happened but hopefully they can move on safely and let many others explore this beautiful location. Next time we get out there we want to do the hike you did. A completely different vantage point but a stunning one.
Yes it is a different vantage point and its just as nice. The size of the mountains and landscape can't truly be appreciated until you are standing there surrounded by the mountains towering all around you. Never gets old.
Yea it is a stunning location in person. Definitely worth checking out if ever in this area. The whole Icefields Parkway road is a must drive. Thanks!! 😀
Glad you enjoyed! Haha for the middle of summer it was very cold in the morning but it always is up there. Wind was crazy and blowing down over the icefield and glacier.
Oh Wade this is just stunning. It is sad how much it has receded. I have been going to Alaska for over 10 years now and they are so much smaller now. I am glad you got to go visit now before it is gone. Great video!
Beautiful location! It is sad to see them all receding. I would love to go to Alaska one day. Looks beautiful there. My kind of place! Thanks for watching. 😀👍
Yea I am trying to hit up lots of different places that are closer to home. It is the chance to do it since travel elsewhere didn't happen this year. Thanks for watching!
Inspiring and beautiful area! It’s amazing that you can tell how much the glacier is retreating in just a couple years. Amazing that you walk in the path it has left behind.... and sad that it is retreating so fast.... great video 👍👍👍
@@ExploringwithWade Canada is a beautiful country you are lucky 👍 I've met a lot of Canadians on my trips to Cuba. Got drunk with a few over the years aswell 🍻🤣🇨🇺👍 I'll keep checking out your already uploaded videos over the next few weeks. Great content man 👍👍👍
In August of 1982, almost exactly 40 years ago today, my parents and I went on a trip to BC and Alberta, and one of the tour's stops was the Athabasca Glacier. When you stopped at the marker saying 1982 I literally got shivers as I saw how far this glacier has receded since I was actually standing on it. I was 11 years old when we were there. Seeing how much of Northern Canada/Arctic has melted since the 1980s is a big reason why I went from being a climate change denier to believer. That is the decade that so many of the ways climate change had sped up really started. I can remember the first time the temperature hit over 40° C in Southwestern Ontario; the first freezing rain storm that covered the snow in a sheet of ice (and me going for a sled ride across it); and the first night it was too hot to be able to sleep. People who were born in the 1990s onward think that this is "normal", but it rarely got this stiflingly hot when I was a kid in the 1970s, but then, there were only 3.78 Billion people living on Earth in 1971, and now we're about to hit 8 Billion. The population has more than doubled. I believe that is a big contribution to climate changes acceleration.
Yes it is eye opening when standing there and feeling so small and seeing how much it has receded. The weather sure does seem to be changing lots over the years. A lot more severe weather it seems. I remember from when I was a kid in the 80s and I notice the weather has for sure changed. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Hello family! Once again another fantastic video! That was incredible seeing that area and knowing how much it used to he covered by a glacier. That's crazy! I can't imagine how surreal it must feel walking around there. This was so Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Glad you enjoyed it! I always appreciate you guys for the support. It is so much more incredible in person when standing there and you realize how small you are. I love it out there in the mountains. I try and go every year. Never gets old. Thanks for watching!!
I still haven't been able to explore this place for myself. When we had it scheduled this summer on our Jasper trip, we ended up driving past it two days after the tragic rollover. We decided that it just wasn't the appropriate time to explore and document it. One day I want to visit it!!
Yes it is a very cool place to experience and is really eye opening when walking by the signs that show where the glacier was and how much it has receded. Take care!
@@ExploringwithWade Yeah I was so fascinating i jump twice on this glacier this summer, first with those famous giant bus and two days after with a guide. My video with a guide is to come and few days
Nice video! I was here just this past September while traveling through Jasper/Banff. Believe it or not I went up there in a t-shirt haha. It was a bit chilly but not too horrible. I thought the path up was a lot steeper than it first looks. Definitely worth it though. Amazing experience but very sad about the retreating aspect. You cannot deny climate change while standing there.
Nice! Haha if you went in a t-shirt and it wasn't too bad you are very lucky. The times I have gone it feels like full on winter haha even in summer. Yes it is a bit steep compared to when you first look at it from a distance. It is eye opening seeing how far it has retreated for sure. Take care!
Yes there are so many places to explore and lots we will never have the time to see. At least with how connected the world is now we can see video and pictures of all these places we can't visit in person.
Great shots, well done! I just bought the Mavic Pro 2 myself and it’s been amazing, the shots in 4K are great. Just uploaded a new one, check my latest drone video! :) I subscribed to your channel!
Thank you!! All the dji drones seem really nice. I wanted to just start with the little guy but I love how portable and capable it is and good for me for now. I will check yours out. 😀👍
