This is the 3rd and final episode in this PNW Series.
We are making our way home form WAshington, finding ourselves in the beautiful rolling hills along the Snake River. A we make our way through Idaho, we are reminded just how incredible the state is. We stop for a few nights on the mountains trails and we finally actually need 4wd.
This trip has been easy, dirt roads. We tried to get into some of the harder routes, but quite frankly didn't find many along our way. I know they are here, we will just need to try harder next time. Still, we had a blast exploring the PNW.

I think that the coolest part about this story wasn’t where you were going. Or even where you ended up. I think that the best part about this story. Was that you were able to tell it while spending time with an involving your family. I think you are one of the top storytellers in this game of RU-vid videos. I watch all of the major Overlanding style content creators. all of them are great, in their own way. But I enjoy the vision that you bring into your content. I’m happy that on some of these adventures you have a significant other that also has a similar common interest with you. Also, the desire to go out and spend time with you. Please give her a big thanks that she is even willing to allow you to video everything and share it with the world. Thanks again I can’t wait for the next one Also, one video idea that I would have, or would like for you to do would be one that sort of shows the steps, and or precautions that you take or you may be taking in the future when you go out into the wild with your family or sometimes even alone. Steps that you currently take. Steps that you were planning to take because of the ever so changing world. The steps I’m referring to is any safety precautions. Include steps that involve being safe in the wild settings. As well as any possible human interactions that may not be Safe. Or just maybe unknown. I know you want to be as remote as possible, as you stated in many other videos. But sometimes that remote may also leave you wide open to one of these two dangers. Or at least potential dangers.

Thank you for another awesome video. You’re right, you do not need four wheel drive very often having driven adventure tours in Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa. The only time I needed four wheel drive was a campsite in Amsterdam. A senior driver said to me do not drive on the grass in this campsite and three minutes later, he drove onto the grass. We sunk to the lockers on the coach. Even in Scandinavia, the most remote legal place to drive, a two wheel drive adventure coach was all that’s required. In Africa, a number of the Overland truck companies have changed over to 2 wheel drive trucks because it was not needed any more with the new modern roads in Africa to have four wheel drive. I was involved in helping build and test one of the first two wheel drive Mercedes truck that was being sent down to Africa to drive Overland trips. Would I use four-wheel-drive in Africa myself? Yes, just in case. I was in the wrong place when the rains come. Also because I’m very very lucky to have a brand-new 2023 Land Cruiser 78 Troop Carrier. Keep your great videos coming, also look forward to your build of the new track you are getting once it arrives. I understand having to wait is hard, I tried to buy my land cruiser over three years ago when the order books had just closed the month before! I’m glad after all the time of waiting that someone cancelled their order, and I was able to pick up one of the very last new Troop Carriers available in New Zealand.
@IndependenceOverland
@IndependenceOverland 4 месяца назад
Oh man! Troop Carriers are such awesome vehicles, if I had the option to buy one that isn't 25 years old, I would absolutely build one! We were considering going to NZ for this upcoming week actually. We fly for free, so we often plan things last minute. We ended up having to alter our plans but one of these days, I would very much like to visit. It looks absolutely breathtaking!

Thank you. I know little to nothing about how to do what you do, but I so want to try. I don't have a 4 wheel drive, a roof top tent or any of the overland gear that seems so prevalent. I do however have a desire to explore and to journey within my capabilities. To see the wonders of God's Creation. I have a Gazelle tent, a 2019 Ford Explorers, a stove, refrigerator cot, Bluettie power source and a simple iPhone GPS. No way I could ever make an interesting RU-vid, nor would I really want to try except to record something of an adventure for my grand children. Perhaps to inspire them to seek out life outside the box before they are 70 years old. One thing I really took from this video is that you pointed out that we can have adventures without expensive and complicated 4 WD Overlanding vehicles . I needed to hear that. I now need overland adventures for the light duty overlander. The guys like me that have 2WD, limited gear but great desire. God Bless and thank you for sharing. It is great to see someone with your experience and skills share with others. Thank you both.

1.) OnX Off Road is a solid source of trails in the area, more than you could do in a week. 20% off is my code overland20 2.) No permit is required. 3.) No clue on lodging, I have never stayed anywhere other than campsites out there. Though I would say Ouray is the most centrally located, so I would plan on that being home base for your trip!
