In this Journey to Forest Dunes in Roscommon, Mich., which is 65 miles east of Traverse City, you meet Lew Thompson, the owner of the remote destination from 2011-2020. In that time, Thompson added a reversible routing by Tom Doak, a par-3 course by Keith Rhebb and Riley Johns, a putting course, lodging and other amenities to the resort. All ideal additions to what was already a popular Tom Weiskopf course, not to mention the destination’s proximity to the Au Sable River, one of the best fishing spots in the country.
