As many have already noted, producer Robert Abel and director Michael Gibson also did the Jackson's classic "Can You Feel it" 2 years after this. I'm also pretty sure it's the same announcer, living legend (at the time of this writing he's 97) Ken Nordine.

It might have been. Both this ad and the Jacksons video were designed and directed by Robert Abel and Associates, and both were released at around the same time as well
Jovan was a fragrance company that produced some very memorable scents starting in the early 70s with Jovan Musk, Grass Oil, Ginseng, Sex Appeal, Monsieur Jovan and are even credited with creating one of the first (if not THE first pheromone infused scent, "Andron") until they were bought out by Coty in the mid 90s. Coty phased out many of the classic Jovan scents and made inferior formulations of the scents they decided to keep in their stable. Vintage Jovan scents are well worth the search if you can still find fresh bottles...
