Absolutely stunning. I've gone through some tough times, and I always find myself coming back to Joy Division, but specifically Ian Curtis. He tragically took his own life far before he was meant to go, but I personally can't think of a more courageous person. He went out on that stage and gave everything he had, over and over again, knowing he could literally fall over dead from a seizure at any second in front of everyone. Whenever I find myself in a dark place, or feeling afraid about something that's to come, I always think about Ian Curtis going out onto a stage with flashing lights and loud noises and how fearless he was. Actually, my hero.
I couldn't have said it better! And do you know why he was so fearless? Because he fraternized with death every day and was even in love with it. But above all, he was a genius.
Although my personal favorite version of this song is the performance at The Rainbow, this one sounds pristine and it embodies the same energy of said performance. The fact that there's a video of this is also amazing, love the ghostly and spectral vibes it gives.
