Joy is a fruit of the spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Joy is the natural reaction we feel to the work of God. There is joy in salvation, God’s presence, and as we grow in Christ. Salvation is Joy. When we accept Jesus as Lord and savior of our lives, joy supernaturally dwells in us, because it is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The presence of God is joy. By the Holy Spirit we are drawn to God. And in God’s presence we can know true joy. Spiritual maturity brings joy. As we grow in Christ, the Holy spirit helps us with the capacity to feel more joy. We are able to not sweat the small stuff. Basically, joy is a choice. We choose whether or not to allow God to work in our lives. When we submit to the Holy Spirit, we will experience true joy through His salvation, His presence and our spiritual maturity. As a result, we will also be able to relate to our spouses better.
