After nearly 50 years in operation, Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock, TX has closed down (possibly forever). The park is scheduled to be auctioned off on October 27th, 2022 unless a buyer is found by October 1st, 2022. Joyland is home to various rare and classic rides including the Galaxi which was manufactured by SDC in 1971 and the Sand Storm which is a Cavazza Diego family coaster manufactured in the mid 1990s.

This is very sad news. One big difference between Joyland and Knoebels is that the Knoebels family also has another form of income: they run a lumber company. That helps cushion the financial pressure when they have to rebuild after the frequent floods.

They also own two campgrounds and a golf resort that's open year around. Ironic you mentioned Knoebels because they now own Joyland's rock o plane.

I remember my teenage years in the 90s joyland was such a cool place so many memories!! Hopefully they find someone to keep it going!!

There’s also no more Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah day on splash Mountain also going out of business I remember going there in the 90s dress as Pinocchio on Halloween in 1940 they got even darker in 2022 I was gonna go on the black black waterslide, because I got to travel the world this is something we can all relate to when you go to Orlando Florida. That is the twilight zone tower of tear whenever you have their fear of falling out of your seat on theme park rides nowadays I’m just anything theme park nerdy, except not all of them I don’t like the rides that go you know at least in Orlando Florida are you have way better LED light rides I know because I was actually born in Miami on April 25, 1990. Those are the hays of going to a theme park to going to an amusement park.
